Biography

Piet van Dongen was born in the early morning of December 2, 1983 as Peter van Dongen. To prevent confusion with his father, Peter, he was called Piet.

The first four years of his life weren’t very interesting from a musical perspective. As of his fifth, however, he began building his music library. His first acquisitions were some Michael Jackson and George Michael tapes. This was celebrated at primary school, doing a playback show of the King of Pop’s greatest hits.

However, this was not quite a success, because Piet suffered from stage freight. Attempts to form a band with his brother and father weren’t very successful either. After years of enjoying all kinds of music passively, he got his hands on a piece of music software. He developed a distinct preference for a combination of hard beats and emotional melodies.

The guitar he got from his parents as a teenager, led him onto the path of rock music. He very much liked the emotions that sounded through this kind of music. His love for rock never faded, but had to be shared with the love for dance music later on.

Financial and technical progress made the purchase of a virtual studio possible. After struggling with Cubase he sent his first trance demos to Dutch artists as Marco V and Rank 1. The feedback he got from them he used to improve his productions.

After discovering the techno club nights at Planet Rose in his hometown, a whole new world opened itself for him. A few demos to the just-founded local Wolfskuil Records label got him his first release. Together with partner in crime Giorgos Gatzigristos he got pressed onto the black gold.

Good contact with local artists as Ger Laning (DJ LL) and Darko Esser encouraged him to further improve his tracks. In 2006, the German label Audiomatique Recordings released his first solo EP, followed by a split EP on the same label, together with Darko Esser and Bryan Aneurysm.

As from the summer of 2006, Piet started performing his music live. Armed with a laptop and a midi-controller he tries to make his audience dance.
