I think I liked Mancini first. That and the music of Loony Tunes. Then there is the first wave of influence through my brother. Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Jimi Henderix, The Who, Neil Young and Joe Walsh where my early teachers. I was playing cello in Jr Hi trying to adapt classical to rock and rock to classical. The next wave was through my sister. Billy Joel, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, SRV, Thunderbirds, Robert Plant, Duran Duran and some how The Greatfull Dead is in there too. I guess on the bus or on the radio I found my way to Queen, ACDC, Air Supply and Rush. I also remeber sneakin up past my bed time to watch Saturday Night Live. I saw Foreigner on SNL and had to have all there records. Not long in to High School I discover Punk Rock. Sex Pistols, Ramones, Iggie Pop, Blonde, Black Flag, Circle Jerks, Misfits and the Dead Kennedys and thats not even close to all of them. I think Black Flag, The Misfits and Bad Brains are the greatist bands of all times. I did the classic move from Punk to metal. Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Slayer, Venom, Metallica, Motorhead, Cro Mags and Destruction!!! I liked the first wave of New metal too. Sepultura, Soundgarden, Voi Vod and into digi techno Metal like Skinny Puppy and Godflesh.I guess in College I liked Black Sabbath, Nirvana, Jane's Addiction, Tool, Sublime, Steel Pulse, Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and started getting into Miles Davis and Santana. I'm sure I knew Zappa when I was little for some reason but I listened to a lot more when I was pretending to go to school. Next I dove into a sea of Mr Bungle, John Zorn, Bill Lasswel including Naked City, Suzy Iberia, Anthony Coleman, Evan Parker, Zoney Mash and Medesky, Martin and Wood, Ben Perowsky, Secret Chiefs and Cibo Matto. Probaly the last significant wave of influence is well...Ween Based. Ween is a real 3rd Eye opener. They made me fell like its ok to write a song again.
