My name is Lisa Valder. I was born in Köln, Germany on 6.3.1958. At age 19, after leaving school I took what was intended a gap year job at EMI Electrola. As it turned out I stayed for a few years, met lots of weird and wonderful people (including my future husband), travelled a lot and generally had a good time. 2 years later I moved to Berlin (following in the footsteps of my then great idol David Bowie) to study music history at Berlin University for a couple of years. I moved to London in 1982, where I developed what had been more of a hobby, photography, into a serious profession, working for German magazines like Stern, Viva, Der Spiegel etc and for the National Theatre in London, and met more weird and wonderul people. I branched out into other areas of photography and sold my work through European and US photo libraries for advertising and publishing. Nowadays my photographs are distributed via my own picture library (www.imagestopshop.com) and through Getty Images, and I occasionally have local exhibitions. I also run a sound recording studio in partnership with my husband (www.barnroom.co.uk). We are very lucky to have three wonderful children.
