About Me

Hi there my name is Terry Taz Wright and i am roadie for Bernie Torme John McCoy and Robin Guy (GMT) and recently started to roadio for Eric Faulkners Bay City Rollers. And im a drummer/bass player. I play drums for 3 bands THE SLAPHEADZ,and THE MAD SLAPPERS, And HIGHWAY JONES, i play bass for The Crustees. Through the last 20 0dd years i have been in various bands either on drums or bass guitar. My claim to fame was playing drums for Paul Samson in 1997.
I have recently filmed 'GMT' 'Biomechanical' 'OutCryFire' 'Hartless' and 'Letz Zep.And i have Recorded and filmed Rachel Stamp
And recentley done sound for Deeply Purple
The first real band i was in was called SYSTEM 4,in 1980 A rock covers band with Valance Forde on guitar Mick Simmons on bass Richard Jones on vocals and me hitting things.
I remember it was funny at the time we were looking for a singer, and val said ive got some guy coming around to try out, as all auditions were being held at my parents house in my bed room at the time where we burnt a lot of jossticks to hide the smell!
Well to cut a long story short at 4.30pm one afternoon this kiddy knocked the door in his school uniform as he was only 15 years old and sung his socks off and got the job.
We went on to do to gigs for a year and then disbanded, shame was good fun.
After System 4, I jammed around for a few years with various people, then met up with some guys - Ray a Drummer, and Nat with his whacky painted guitar who looked like he was stuck in the sixties psychedelic scene MAN.
Any way, we took lots of drugs and made lots of weird music and called our band 'Blue Banana'.
At this time I was playing bass guitar and we never gigged! I will however be puting some of the music we recorded on here at some point.
After 'Blue Banana', Ray and I met this singer guitar player who wrote his own songs, his name was Ron Boarder. He wanted us to join with him to form a band that was soon to become 'Evidence for the defence'.
.To save on studio costs we soundproofed Rays garage as he didnt have a car at the time, Ray and I didnt have day jobs, so we got on with sorting that out, but Ron had early morning cleaning jobs!
When Ron got back from work late morning, we all got in the garage & jammed from 10.30-ish till 3.30pm when Rays kids got home from school, and that happened 6 days a week for about 2 years, so you can imagine we had loads of material.
Any way after that i got together with a couple of guys for a jam, Pete Speed (drums) and Dave Burgess (guitar)We jammed around done a few gigs and partys doing covers and some of our own stuff. But this wasnt to last long and splitt after a year.
So then i gave up music until 1994 when i joined a little blues band called This Way Up where i met Paul Samson,we became good friends. We giged around with This Way Up for a while and then Paul asked me if i would play drums for him.
Well that was a BIG YES, and Ian Ellis was of Savoy brown Ten years After was to play bass.Paul also got me a job with The English Rogues, also a great band with founder member Gerry Shirwin bass and vocals Andy Hyldon on guitar who is now on guitar in my bands The Slapheadz and Mad Slappers today.
So i was working with Paul and The Rogues.Andy left the Rogues about 1996 to follow other interests, and a great guitar player Alex Dewar rejoind the Rogues.
So then i went on a small tour with Paul and Ian and ended up in Holland (Stam Rock) supporting Thunder Wishbone Ash and Saxon, A week end that i will never forget Thanks Paul.
I worked with paul on and off for a couple of years as a drummer or roadie along side Rob Grain Pauls long time friend and roadie.
Sadly Paul passed away in 2002 and the world lost a great guitar player but his friends family and fans will keep his music alive.
And well done Rob Grain for doing a great job on Pauls website and myspace.
Well i stayed with The English Rogues from 1994-2001 and then spent some time with my family away from music till 2004 when i met Dave Gill and gave Andy Hyldon a call and formed The Slappheadz, and later andy and i joined up with Dave Trogg Crowe and Damian Darkside Walsh of Trogg And The Mad Doggs fame to form The Mad Slappers wich is where i am today.
I also drive and roadie for Bernie Torme John McCoy Robin Guy (GMT)Along side Rob Grain.
