Lazy J -Jan van Bijnen- is known as a player of a variety of -mostly stringed- instruments. Most notable are his guitar- and dobro-playing. He plays with Markowski -the 'rootsy pop with country flavor'-band of German singer/songwriter Sonja Markowski and a lot of other projects. Lazy J is his '50's alias, check his and his loving Gretsch' dates on www.lazyj.nl. You can find Jan in Dutch theaters with percussionplayer Ernesto Arrendell. He is also bookable with western swing-stringband Foolz & A Fiddle and coverband Men's Best Friend. Some of his jobs on stage or in the studio in the past were with comedian Paul Haenen, the German/Turkish hip hop unit Cribb 199, at touring theaterfestival De Parade, more recently with White Sands and Dennis Kolen. In january 2008 he backed up German alt.country singer/songwriter Markus Rill on his Dutch tourdates. Jan plays Rayco, Watson, Johnson and Dean dobros, a Weissenborn by Goldtone, a 6-string Nashville Instr. Lapsteel, a Frying Pan 7-string Electro-lapsteel built by Jan van der Donck and various electric guitars (Fender, Gretsch, Epiphone, Eko etc.) along with a nice Walden flattop. Het is proud to play a Fender 10-string single neck pedalsteel with a Fender volumepedal. Other instruments are a Washburn 5-string banjo, Kirkland F-mandolin, a great sounding Deagan ElectroVibe (vibraphone), a Yamaha trumpet and Hohner and Barcorole accordeons.
