You're never too old to play hard at recess.

About Me

A woefully underpaid public servant who gives a shite about the world in which we live. Grew up in Cali, lived on the east coast and in Europe for many years, and finally made my way back home. I continually strive for balance in my life, yet I am not a Libra. I adore the irreverent and the absurd and am not attracted to any particular 'type' of person. A lack of pretense and a sense of humor capture my attention and character keeps it (although mohawks still make me weak in the knees).

My Interests

Learning something new from someone, progressive/ underground music, picking up the guitar again, the continual search for inspiring and enriching art (literary, musical, and visual), traveling, eating and drinking well, exercising via running/riding my bike/yoga, and puzzles in varied forms.

I'd like to meet:

Those that don't take themselves too seriously.

Music:

Been listening to a lot of The Action, The Divine Comedy, The Lilac Time, The Darkside, Roddy Frame, and Beck lately. New favs include Pony Club (brilliant!), The Clientele, Persephone's Bees, Mojave 3, The Tyde, and Carmen Rosa. Stalwart fan of Thievery Corporation, VU, Billy Bragg, The Clash, The La's, XTC/ Dukes of Stratosphear, The Jam, The Who, Stranglers, Buzzcocks, Sex Pistols, The Pogues, Blondie, Ramones, Husker Du, Paladins, Blue Hawaiians, X, The Replacements, fIREHOSE, Minutemen, Shins, TMBG, CVB, B-52's, Pink Martini, almost anything bossa nova, garage-pop, rocksteady, and Two Tone.

Movies:

Fargo, End of the Century, Welcome To The Dollhouse, Happiness, Repo Man, But I'm A Cheerleader, Swimming Pool, Rushmore, Brain Candy, Naked, Galaxy Quest, Pi, Ronin, Mulholland Drive, GBU, Sound of Music, The Princess Bride, pretty much anything by Jim Jarmusch, and all McKean/ Guest/Shearer collaborations.

Television:

I don't have a TV, but will watch on your TV: Top Chef, Man vs. Wild, Flight of the Conchords, Big Love, Adult Swim, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, Reno 911, South Park, The Simpsons, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Star Trek, and

Books:

Currently reading: Tried to read but couldn't finish: Porno-Welsh (Scottish dialect too taxing). Recently read: Getting Stoned with the Savages-Troost; Into the Wild-Krakauer; Lunar Park-Ellis; Illusions-Bach; Walking Through Clear Water in a Pool Painted Black-Mueller; Between Thought & Expression-Lou Reed; Wild Years: The Music & Myth of Tom Waits-Jacobs; The Truth About Drug Companies-Angell; Candide-Voltaire; Confessions of an Economic Hitman-Perkins; Donor Boy-Halpin; The Wind Up Bird Chronicles-Murakami. No Music Today or Tomorrow

Well, after careful deliberation, I have decided to decline the invite to join The Hi-Lites, a local kick-ass original Jamaican ska band.  I was so excited to do it, too. Ultimately, th...

The FBIs Drug Policy Is Not So Dumb Anymore

Play Music Again?

Well, I've been asked to play tenor sax for a local original ska band. This is an exciting proposition. I haven't played in years but I think it will be like riding a bike and it's rhythm section...
