Manatea aka Mateja Bogataj has first been introduced to electronic music through parties right after finishing grade school. As soon as she saw and heard Djane Gaby and Vega play in versus at club Heaven she realised she wanted to be a djane, too. Because of school she had to put that idea to the side for some time but the desire to make people happy with her music grew stronger every day. By the time she was 16 she met DJ Dave J and mentionet her wish to learn more about DJ-ing to him. He tought her the basic routines and lend her some of his records so she could practise and stood by her side all along her path. She was a quick learner and through her frequent practise in Heaven nightclub the owner of the club heard her talent and asked her to warm-up one saturday night. DJ Gee was kind enough to lend her his records and she did a great job. From there on it was a quick ride up to her first official party and a new star rose on the horizon. In the year 2003 she applied to the Final Flash competition and made it to the finals, in 2005 she made the crowd go crazy in the competition SamoDaJeFeshta In The City, and got all the support of the people aswell as the jury with the finals set at SYLD06 eventhough she did not get the first prise. She doesn't compete out of desire to win but out of desire that people hear her music and appreciate her effort. Buying records takes a lot of her time because her taste in music is very specific and sophisticated and she finds it hard do satisfy her needs. She never used CDs beacuse the vinyl gives her the real fealing for the song she's holding in her hands. As every serious DJ she is also working on her own production as much as she can considering she is allways busy in one way or another. Her sets which are never pre-thought but come straight from her heart have been heard in lots of clubs all over Slovenia (such as Lipa, Simfonija, Casablanca, Heaven, Moulin Rouge, Sub sub, Impulz, K4, Fun Factory, Mese--ina, Rde--a ostriga, D-place, Manana, Fun Academy – CRO)
