Welcome to the Official MySpace Page of James L. O'Connor (known in the 504 as "J.L.J")Born and raised in New Orleans and grew up in the late great Desire Housing Projects where I spent my childhood working on my craft as an artist (as well as taking up an unusual hobby of fixing up old fans and radios). My artistic work had paid off when I began drawing the backgrounds for local photographers to use for high school dances, winter formals, nightclubs and events, like the Bayou Classic. After Hurricane Katrina in 2005, I now reside in Dallas, Texas and I'm trying to get back into my work after a two year layoff. I'm also currently working on another project about my old 'hood, Desire, which I have samples of those writings on my blog. So, feel free to navigate my ever-changing page. I have sample of my work from the backgronds I've done at high school dances from 1991 to 2003 and some of the backgrounds and contact tables I had created and/or rendered for MySpace. For those who came out of "The D" (and those who haven't), I have made a montage of the Desire from the time it was built to its unfortunate demise.NO JOKERS, PLEASE!!!Enjoy.

I, from this day forward, will strive to improve myself spiritually, morally, mentally, socially, politically and economically for the benefit of myself, my family and my people. I pledge that I will strive to build business, build houses, build hospitals, build factories and enter into international trade for the good of myself, my family and my people.I pledge that from this day forward I will never raise my hand with a knife or a gun to beat, cut, or shoot any member of my family or any human being except in self-defense. I pledge from this day forward that I will not poison my body with drugs or that which is destructive to my health and my well-being. I pledge from this day forward I will support black newspapers, black radio, black television. I will support black artists who clean up their acts to show respect for themselves and respect for their people and respect for the ears of the human family. I will do all of this so help me god.
