About Me

Black mermaid / A circle of thrones, cassette release on scumbag tapes U.S.A (cat no.st29)freewebs.com/scumbagtapes........................... ....... ******new CD e.p out now on skribble records called 'Fly silver corpse fly! only £1 from skribble-records.co.uk.....................................C OLD SPRING RECORDS REVIEW - Imagine a sludgy ISIS or PELICAN, mix in noise, mix in a weird old school SONIC YOUTH slant and you might have COLOSSLOTH. One 15 minute long track, mighty and solid , but very sloooow, great stuff. Watch out for them live around the uk. The sort of thing that will go for £50 on Ebay once the word gets around about them............................... TASTY FANZINE REVIEW - The first couple of minutes of this track from slurred Leicester experimental noise merchants reminds me of that episode of Peep show where Jeremy is recording a backing track for Gogs Honda ad and super Hans requests a sound of dread and foreboding. Well i liked it anyway. And the steady mechanical drone is continuous pretty much through the full 15 minutes, with the exception of some random Moogy warblings, a bit of discordant distorted guitar chord and the insistent drum pattern, 'Fly silver corpse! Fly!' is impressively resolute in its resistance to diverge from its stoical and unbending path..............TAKING NOTES EZINE REVIEW - When you buy a professionally duplicated CDR, containing just a single 15 minute song, by a band you've never heard of and on a record label you don't know, to be honest you're taking a risk. It's not just you though, Colossloth have also taken a risk by choosing to release a single track as a statement of their work. A typical 15 minute track won't get much, if any airplay and many buyers may be put off by the track length, if they havn't heard the song. This would have to be something special for word to spread beyond the underground. Then thank fuck that 'Fly silver corpse! FLY! is bloody brilliant! It may be one long, slow track but i love every second of it. Every grumbling drone, every old school electronic noise and feedback, every tormenting, thundering guitar and every pounding, marching drumbeat. Everything!! Fly silver corpse! FLY! has so many twists and developments in song structure, yet it's beauty lies in the consistency of the elements used throughout. Colossloth are a band to watch and 'fly silver corpse! FLY! is a release you need to hear. Talek Glover..............Fly silver corpse! Fly! (edited vesion) on issue 14 of Zero tolerance magazines covermount CD......... interview in zero tolerance magazine issue 15........ CREAM OF THE CROP MAGAZINE One track thats all you get here, on the first release for skribble records in the UK. Admiration here for having the balls and faith to put this out. Colossloth may be a modern journey, but their beaten old mustang is driving you straight back to the heavy days of the 70,s and some wondrous sounds, so reminded me in places of CAN, with much more of an experimental edge. A scare boundaries edge. The moog bleeps and high pitched resonance, weave and place set and get you to sit at the table of a rock band version of the SILVER APPLES. Its dark sounds with an inspiring full band feel, the 90's had another similar band that the could be hooked lined and caught with WARSER GATE. This echoes of high octane mind fuck trip out times, and worth the next to nothing price for it. A band to watch out for, so many more delights will have ya flying outta body in the future.......colossloth interview online www.emofag.net .........ROCK SOUND issue 98, As you can probably tell by the name, colossloth ain't no pop project. The brainchild of Leicester based Andy W, this lethargic beast already has one EP in circulation and another due out later this year. If heavy, ambient electronica tickles your fancey then this is well worth investigating.....Fly silver corpse! Fly! on Bad Acid magazine compilation TAB 7.......Today i recieved my copy of the colossloth cd 'fly silver corpse! fly! in its full 15 minute 42 seconds version. i thought the edited version on his myspace was pretty impressive but this is something different altogether, what you get is the most expansive, colossal (no pun intended), wide ranging, all-encompassing landscape of sound that leaves you thinking 'whaaaat!!!'. remember when you first heard public image's 'metal box' for the first time, that great leap sideways that still hasn't lost any of its impact? this has the same effect. i won't go into individual sounds or instrumentation, the piece should be accepted as a whole. it's 'rock' but not on conventional terms, not space rock or krautrock or death metal or whatever this weeks new thing is. its great!.....VERT:X.........BAD ACID MAGAZINE REVIEW........As their name would suggest, Colossloth offer a slab of colossal fuzz interspersed with some wonderful spaced out sounds at a Sloth like pace. Their first effort 'Black Mermaid / A Circle of Thrones' was a cassette only release on scumbag tapes U.S.A and raised a few eyebrows much further afield than the band's Leicester base. This was followed by most recent release 'Fly Silver Corpse! Fly!' It's available on Skribble records in high quality CDR format for a quid, yep that's £1! It's a brave fifteen minute single track that to put it simply is pure genius. A beautiful Earth like drone and steady (and I mean steady) drumbeat keeps things constant in the background whilst warped electronics and sinister sounding guitar parts to the fore keep the listener interested and wanting a further 15 minutes more. With the bands debut album approaching in the winter of 2007 I feel it necessary to inform you that the only time a Sloth leaves the tree canopy is to shit, about only once a week, it stinks like hell and the process looks like a prolapse. This record will be something special. Ben Camps....LIVE, cultural exchanges festival, 29/02/08, leicester Demont Uni......Interview, les hommes du president Magazine.....
