About Me

(View Murder, Mayhem and a Fine Man)
Hey there! I'm Claudia Mair Burney, author of the Amanda Bell Brown Mysteries, NavPress.Book One: Murder, Mayhem, and a Fine Man, July 2006 Book Two: Death, Deceit, and Some Smooth Jazz, Feb. 2007 Book Three: Saints, Suspicions, and a Ticking Clock, Oct. 2007Welcome! It's good to meet you.Murder, Mayhem, and a Fine Man is coming to your favorite bookseller soon. You don't want to miss the adventures of Dr. Amanda Bell Brown (you can call her Bell, but only if you love her). There's a hottie detective, Lt. Jazz Brown (no relation), who catches Bell's eye at a crime scene, her sister, the medical examiner, Dr. Carly Brown, and her goofy and grace filled pastor, Rocky Harrison.I wrote Murder, Mayhem, and a Fine Man because I wished I could read a book like that--CSI meets the Emergent Church! I wanted to feature multiculti characters who are wonderfully human, and who reminded me of my friends. The people in Bell's world have real struggles. Sometimes they make bad decisions. Sometimes they don't know what to do, but always, they try to hold on to the God who holds them so firmly in His capable, "I'll never leave you or forsake you", hands.I chose the name Amanda Bell Brown for my protagonist because that's my own great-grandmothers name--only she was my maternal grandmother. Ma Brown is part and parcel of who I am spiritually. I believe my saintly great-grandmother's prayers ushered me into the kingdom of God well after her time on this earth was done. I wanted her name to live on a little while longer. She lived in a time in which black women could not make their dreams come true like they can today. I wanted to give her a little bit of my dream.Live on, Amanda Bell Brown! I hope you are proud of me.Thanks for stopping by, dear reader. Feel free to visit, ask questions, or just kick it with me.You can preorder murder at Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com, Walmart.com, and Christianbook.com.Thanks for your support! whateverlife.com
