About Me
"The Workaholics are a collision of 80s new wave and 90s guitar pop -mashing the active, wiry bass lines and airy keyboards of the mid-80s with the perky, bright guitar lines of the mid 90s. The vocals hop back and forth between eras - often sullen and dour, but sometimes cheeky and exultant. Falling somewhere between Interpol and Third Eye Blind, the Workaholics explore a strange fusion of genres that works - after you wrap your head around it for a bit. Check Guardian Angel for the most mind-bending trip."

"5 talented musicians from Athens, Greece with a unique sound that crosses many genres. The best way I can describe it is a blend of 80s pop and modern indie rock with a touch of alternative thrown in. Kind of like A-HA meets The Strokes. Who cares what you call it, the result is very enjoyable. Well written catchy melodies and smooth vocals. I haven't been able to get Astroboy out of my head all week. Hopefully this is just a taste of what is to come for this band and there will be an album in the very near future. I for one will be looking for it."

"The Workaholics proved once more what an explosive bunch of pros they are. They had the floor heaving and jumping, with their personal brand of power pop and sass. Enough said, we don't want to spoil them with too much praise, they might get big headed and start snobbing us."

"As I was looking at the participants' list, it wasn't difficult to pinpoint the title of the band you are about to hear: The Workaholics. First, I listened to Astroboy, that as a title also possesses something direct and attractive. As the sound of the tight rhythm section and that tremendously catchy riff in the guitars and the keyboards passed through my headphones, I realized that the strength of this band is exactly its direct charm. The jury, as if prearranged, was also taken over unanimously by their majestic workaholism. Now it's your turn."
Foivos Delivorias, musician - Juror, Coca-Cola Soundwave 2007
"By their name only, they boldly declare themselves as hard workers. A tight quintet of course, with rock ‘n’ roll air and vocals, they seem to be the band that can win you over when performing live. In the studio, however, they seem to need an experienced and perceptive producer in order to bring out their “dirtier†elements. All in all, they’ve got that “something†that makes them stand out from the pile."

We are the Workaholics. We are the guys who burn the midnight oil. We never stop working. Only one thing can distract us: our passion for music. We make music for real people. People with problems that require solutions. Each song tells a tale. A tale of people you may know, have met or have heard of.
We were formed in late 2005 and we come from and live in Athens (except from Cookieman who came from Brussels on vacations and soon found himself a registered Greek). We work hard, often overtime, to deliver our work to all of you who enjoy and appreciate good indie pop/rock music. Our music influences are countless, so we put extra care in our effort to give our songs their own individual character. The rest will always be up to you, the listener.
In 2006 we recorded our first demo, while we just finished our second one. Until the end of 2007 we have arranged to record our first complete album.
In the last year we have performed some 15 explosive gigs in some of Athens' best known live stages. We also rank among the top 20 Coca-Cola Soundwave bands. Having competed with more than 8000 bands from 19 countries, our songs "Miss the Girl" and "Astroboy" hit No 5 on the Greek and European charts respectively. The appeal we had among the voting audience and the jury brought us 2 more gigs, one of which was on the main stage of the European Music Day 2007 in Athens. We have also been selected and showcased by IndieSolo.com, as one of their "365 best indie bands in the world" online project.
If you find our music interesting, feel free to become our friend. Listen to our songs and comment if you want to (be creative! you can do better than "thx for the add" or "you rock!"). This door will always remain open to all of you out there.
