Athens based four piece, BAD MATHEMATICS have played pretty much every major venue in the city to great reception. Here is what one critic wrote about the band:
"I had heard only praise about this band's few previous appearances. Their performance not only proved everything I'd heard, but very much more. First some past history, since essentially this is the first time a review of this extremely exciting Athens-based band has appeared on Avopolis.
This four piece band is fronted by the English singer, Cassi, who, among other things, directed the play "Female Parts" (by Dario Fo & Franca Rame) at the Athinais Theatre, for which the band also composed the music. Last year they were voted best new band by Rock FM radio station, a fact which should have brought them a recording contract. This never happened, but let's not rub salt into old wounds, this is neither the time nor the place. As the internet freaks that we are, we must also mention their beautifully made and meticulous web site (http://www.badmathematics.com), one of the most intelligent we have seen in a long time, which, if nothing else, proves their sense of humour.
The truth is that Bad Mathematics are worth it, and then some. Perhaps the best Art Punk band that we've had the pleasure of seeing on the independent Athens scene, they move comfortably from Rock 'N' Roll through dirty Blues, and from there to Jazz and New Wave, all behind the generous power and authenticity of Cassi's incredible vocals, and intelligent, well written lyrics. Totally danceable and riotous at times, and experimental when they should be, Bad Mathematics are, as a major music publisher friend of mine pointed out, the only band in Athens today who could open the show for the John Spencer Blues Explosion who will be playing here next week. And that's no small thing..."
