Daladala Soundz is a soundsystem made up of Georg Milz and Thomas Nothaft. The story began when Georg went to Africa the first time at the age of 17. He was astonished by the music, coming out of every street corner, not unlike what he and his friends were listening to those days. Only the language was a bit different and the rhythm more catchy. Back in Germany while keeping his eyes open for more of this type of music, he met the musicjournalist Jay Rutledge, who had just compiled the sampler "Africa Raps", focusing on rap from West Africa and was about to start his own label: outhere records. Georg joined in and got more and more connected with whats happening musicwise on a street level in Africa. On his next trip to Tanzania he went together with his friend Thomas, who is better known in Munich's Clubscene as the HipHop and Electro DJ Not FX. Hanging out with the Bongo Flava scene in Dar es Salaam and driving around in the local daladala mini buses which always play the latest hits. The idea was born to start a soundsystem. The first move was to put out their underground tape "Daladala Soundz - ride the african vibe" (MC). Compiling Samplers like "African Rebel Music Roots reggae and dancehall" (OH 004) and lately "Urban Africa Club Hiphop, dancehall and kwaito" (OH 006) their repertoire grew fast. Daladala soundz DJ regularly at their monthly urban africa club night in Munich. His recent trip took Georg to Ghana to meet up with the stars of the local Hiplife scene. The results will be featured on the upcoming CD "Black Stars - Ghana's hiplife generation"(OH008) which will be released by our homebase outhere records.
