The Scoop Olin couture is an elegant, upscale women-clothing line. At Olin Couture, I have a unique philosophy I live by. I believe that every woman should look and feel special. You will also find stunning, eveningwear, & outerwear. Olin couture is not only an upscale shop with a difference but still has that urban chic feel to it.What does it take a young, black, urban, male to break into the fashion world? Kenneth Olin II hit the New York fashion scene with a bang by staging his Premier Fashion Show in Spanish Harlem on October 5, 2005. He was a teen when he began designing clothes for chic urban women. His first designs took denim jeans and redesigned them into skirts and small handbags. Now, this young man from the Bronx designs fashions that make women look “good” in an urban chic way. His belief that every woman should look and feel special is woven into each couture specialty garment he creates. His new line combines stunning eveningwear, urban chic club wear, and couture tops and dresses for work and play. Combining his stylish tops with the skirts or pants of other urban designers creates a look that is unique to each individual woman who wears it. Kenneth has had to build Olin Couture from the bottom up with little financial backing. A regular teen, in a regular black urban family living in the Bronx, he had a lot of motivation and will, but lacked the ability to fulfill his dream. With the help of his extended family, Kenneth built a network of community who were willing to offer their talents, resources and money to help him realize his dream. Showing his line during Day 1 of 2005 Plitz Harlem Fashion Week was a start. Media coverage of the trendy event helped Olin Couture get the recognition to continue development of a larger line. It also gave Kenneth the ambition to strive to continue creating women’s urban chic fashion, and moving forward to the production of his own show. The 2005 Premier Fashion Show for Olin Couture held at the Julia de Burgos Cultural Center in Spanish Harlem was a night to remember for Kenneth Olin II. After months of behind the scenes creating, interviewing, fundraising and planning, Kenneth was live, in person, with over twenty hand picked models showcasing his beautiful clothes and showing true diversity in cultural representation. The show was a fantastic event full of entertainment and fashion. Olin Couture is run by Kenneth Olin II, assisted by Nykema K. Jones, Elizabeth Sweeney, and michael curtin. We are a non-profit organization completely supported by you, the community. Many organizations have servers and Internet bandwidth but we do not.
