About Me

This layout was handmade with love by the folks at My space or yours? Go get one!
In my hope to fill you in on the life and love of Alisha, I compiled a list of a few of my favorite things in no particular order: weeping willow trees, all of Autumn, Catholics, popcorn, sharing your Kroger PLUS card with the stranger in front of you because they forgot theirs at home, watching old movies on a rainy day, smiling to strangers, popcicles, pajamas that match, fresh flowers, uncontrollable giggling during the prayer at church, deep conversations, hugs from children, my mother when she sings, anything in Uganda, cooking with friends, macaroni and cheese, singing Christmas carols in October, and the list goes on...HEY FRIENDS! I've started podcasting...I get together with three of my favorite people every so often, we record our fantastically bizarre conversations, and then post them on iTunes. Look for us on the iTunes Store as "Focus Group Podcast." You know you have free time on your hands! You're wasting it right now on MySpace...

My Interests

..

I'd like to meet:

Barack Obama, Susan Orlean, Brian McLaren, Gandhi and Judas

Music:

I like music. Music might even like me. I don't know. My favorites? Patty Griffin, Nina Simone, Ben Folds, Lauryn Hill. Now "musicals" should have its own category. Because it doesn't, I'm creating one: The Last Five Years, Wicked, I Love You,You're Perfect,Now Change!, Hairspray, Oliver, RENT, and now BatBoy!

Movies:

Godfather, Westward the Women, Dear Frankie, Spanglish, Bridget Jones' Diary, Easter Parade, Three Ninjas, The Pelican Brief, What About Bob?, Waiting for Guffman, Little Miss Sunshine is a new favorite, Bride & Prejudice, Hooziers, Rudy, Steel Magnolias,Les Choristes, Tsotsi, Caddie Woodlawn.

Television:

The Office, The Colbert Report, Weeds, Big Love, Grey's Anatomy, The L Word, and Six Feet Under, I am also in love with Barefoot Contessa on the Food Network

Books:

I'm reading everything right now...well, most definitely not, but I feel like I am with the demands of graduate school. My favorite read this semester has been "The Fire Next Time" by James Baldwin. I'm adding some more of his books to my reading list for sure.

Heroes:

Really? "Heroes" gets a section but "musicals" doesn't?

An Arkansas License plate...

So, I'm spending the Holidays with my family in northwest Arkansas, and as we were driving to the mall or the movies or somewhere that starts with an "m" I saw a license plate that read "OLEPOOP!" Isn...

It's happened again

I got a bad hair cut this weekend. And yes, I cried. Perhaps this was slightly dramatic, but it happened and I won't deny it. In my weekend of grief over my loss, I was reminded of my history of horri...

Taking the plunge

I'm not shy. I'm not bashful or reserved at all really, but it seems a daunting and hellacious task to begin blogging. Just beginning. Just start to write and open a window to my life. Just write. Out...
