About Me

In the words of Alana's sister (cause she's a WAY better prose writer, ha)...
I wasn’t there, but it I’m pretty sure that my older sister Alana emerged from the womb holding a microphone. She has been singing for most of her life and all of mine. We grew up in church, daughters of a Southern Baptist minister, and singing was part of the territory. Still, Alana had talent that went beyond protocol. She heard melodies in her head, saw lyrics in her mind, and song creation seemed to flow through her veins. It wasn’t long before she had created her first song, and at the age of 17 Alana’s musical journey took off. Unsure of what to do with her creative abilities, she went to college, joined a band, and her gift of singing/songwriting began to take definite shape. Now, Alana has written over 20 songs for solo artists, church conferences, non profit organizations, and a few for friends and family. Many more songs wait to be birthed, but with the talent to sing and write songs, Alana doesn’t plan on putting the microphone down anytime soon.
Her musical inspiration comes from mom and dad who have a hit record (and by hit record I mean we have a box of them in our garage if anyone wants a copy), James Taylor, Carol King, Bread, Credence, the Eagles and so many more patriarchs of the American singing and songwriting tradition.
It doesn’t take long to realize that Alana’s love affair with music is a perfect fit. She says it like this, “Songwriting is my offering of praise, my prayer for help, my therapy, my thought process, my vent of frustration, my melancholy confession, and my sigh of relief.”
