About Me

As a young child I was terrified of horror films, to the point of tears. By the age of 12 or 13 I discovered FANGORIA magazine, & realized it was all make believe. Since that time I knew I wanted to create monsters & scare others, like I was. I attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, on a full tuition scholarship, specializing in special effects make-up. After graduating I toiled in many aspects of special effects & make-up, working & creating for haunted houses, music videos, student films, shorts, & very, very low budget films. In October of 2001 I was hired as a prosthetic make-up artist on MIDNIGHT MASS, a vampire flick. On set I fabricated a corpse & assisted in the completion of a rod puppet. While filming I met Pete Gerner, the make-up/special effects supervisor, & we hit it off. We both had similar interests & worked well together. We decided to join forces as Gerner&Spears FX, to provide quality effects to east coast movie makers. Since teaming up we've created handmade props which we sell to various haunted attractions & at conventions. We've contributed special effects & make-up for several shorts and independent features, such as FLESH FOR THE BEAST, THE TENEMENT, and NIGHTMARE. More recently I've contibuted to SHADOW:DEAD RIOT, RAPTURIOUS, and MR.GIBB.Please let me know if I can help other filmakers turn thier nightmares into reality. For more photos and info check out: gsefx.com http://lightanddark.net/GandS.htmThis computer stuff is all new to me I'm far from a tech guy- I'm a one finger typist, sorry.
