Your LIFE is just an elaborate carnival ride for the SOUL that inhabits you...

About Me

I'm an aspiring artist/writer who happens to live in a tiny little town right now(I HATE it). I'm hoping to find any kind of intellectual social interaction(not romantic though). I'd love to chat with anyone who has something witty or insightful to say about pretty much anything, but especially art, spirituality, music, philosophy, history and science. .. My Interests

Art, music, writing, civil rights issues(with emphasis on women's and gay rights), healthcare issues, learning about science, history, philosophy, theology, animals and their behavior (humans included), social/cultural/world issues--although admittedly, I am not the model of conscientiousness and environmentalism at the moment, but I do hope to change that later... a href="http://www.blinkyou.com/glitters.php" target="_blank" ..

I'd like to meet:

Anyone who has a postive outlook on life or tries to make the world a better place, even if only in small, seemingly insignificant ways.I love Goths(provided that they're friendly and respectful), members of the G/L/B/T community...I myself am not gay, however I am very comfortable in the company of gay people, mostly because they don't draw so many social lines and tend to stray away from gender biases (especially those targeted at women). I love Unitarian Universalists, especially since there is not such a congregation in my town, and I'm sorely in need of the interaction. Vegan/vegetarian/animal rights activists (as long as they aren't too terribly militant). Artists, musicians, poets, writers of any kind, anyone who creates anything or tries to raise social consciousness, political awareness, and/or their own I.Q.s. I'm mostly interested in finding people who truly want to chat-- there's no reason to add me if you're not ever going to try to communicate with me.

Music:

Hard rock, heavy metal, new age, celtic, classical, show tunes, opera,dance/house, movie sound scores, any song that expresses a strong emotion or has something poignant to say (even the occasional rap/hiphop cut)...I love Tori Amos, Jewel, hair bands of the 80's and 90's, ABBA, Evanescence,Sting, Stevie Nicks, the Beatles, Rolling Stones and a whole lot of others too numerous (and possibly embarrassing)to name.

Movies:

Color Purple, The Hours, Last of the Mohicans, Dances with Wolves, Life is Beautiful, About a Boy, Love Actually, M. Night Shyamalan movies, thrillers like The Ring. I like movies that have some grit to them, but I don't really have a penchant for gratuitous violence. I realize that the above choices may seem a bit sappy, but I resent the notions that movies that are focused on human relations and the intricate emotional experiences of life should be "villified" as being chick-flicks. At the other end of the spectrum I'm not a fan of gooey romance films that have no message except that the girl and guy hook up in the end. I like movies that stretch you a bit, even while simultaneously giving you the creeps, like John Waters films or that movie Titus with Anthony Hopkins. I love Indie films that thumb their noses at the typical Hollywood formula... Movies like American Beauty, that have a significant underlying message that isn't necessarily obvious at first. I think cinema is the ultimate artistic media. It takes such a massive collaborative effort from so many perspectives that have to be meshed into one specifc vision in order to create an enduring, beautiful movie (or even a bad one, for that matter)I don't think most people truly appreciate the meticulous artifice and dedication that is involved in the movie-making process.

Television:

Project Runway, Project Greenlight, Sex and the City, Mindfreak, Girls Next Door (that might seem like an odd choice for me, but I see it as a very intriguing study of professional/polygamous relationships, especially from the unique perspective of celebrity and wealth), I like the reality shows where someone can actually change their life with a new career, or those which reveal something interesting about everyday life...I do not however like shows like Big Brother or Survivor..I think they reveal the basest characteristics of our American society, which purportedly hangs from a higher rung of Maslow's Hierarchy of human development than other societies in the world...

Books:

Neale Donald Walsch, Marianne Williamson, Anthony De Mello, Thomas Paine, Rainer Maria Rilke, Lao Tzu, Ayn Rand(okay, admittedly, her politics are completely antithetical to mine, but DAMN she writes some good love scenes), anything to do with spirituality, philosophy, anthropology, human sexuality (from a clinical standpoint, you dirty birds), nature, poetry.

Heroes:

Hosted by Sparkle Tags I'm a fan of pretty much anyone who has fought against the odds to make their dreams come true, or was light-years ahead of their time with their ideas, and committed to walking that path of enlightened but lonely solitude with dignity and faith, rather than compromsing their core beliefs to please the masses.

Art Pages

Just wanted to share something that my sister and I do sometimes when we get a chance to hang out. It's very therapeutic. And sometimes very revealing. It's called art journaling, or art ...

The Great Artist

I prefer to see God as this incredible artist...the greatest, obviously. And I think that when (He/She) looks at us, he doesn't really see anything wrong, even in the midst of all the underhanded...

Thoughts on God

Some of the western ideologies really upset me the way they portray God (and without even realizing it). They set God up to be this creature who is in constant struggle against you-know-who. But at th...

More Musings on Death

I think maybe another reason that people fear death so much is that they've been warned so steadily against it. No one really knows what lies on the other side. But if you believe that eternal punishm...

Ramblings about theAfterlife

Maybe it's just me being optimistic , but i really don't understand the way people panic when they think of dying. I've read of certain island tribes who mourn the passing of their loved ones for only...

Puppet shows and human behavior

I have an idea for a painting, which will probably not get into production for a couple of years, but I'm trying to sketch out the details in my head so I won't forget them. It will be about a puppete...
