About Me
My name is Rob Mazurek,Im from Canada. The First thing People notice about me when they meet me is my height-being 6ft6 is pretty cool(except when your trying to dodge Ex-girlfriends in a crowd,(I mean not that I happen to do that a lot mind you..smile) -but when I do it's kind of hard, because I really stick out in a crowd) Im also afraid of heights,-but thank god only really high ones-or id be a real mess mentally !
(Actually Some people may argue I am anyway-but hey what do they know...they're just plain crazy,).... (smile)Anyway,I'm a guitarist and periodically I also do some acting gigs on the side as well,(all in films shot here in Winnipeg)I always loved the guitar and music in general since about the age of six.(and when I was younger than that I would bang on whatever made noise- and use them as drums-drove my mom crazy-haha),learning from this experience, I guess she figured it was safer and probably more sane for her to get me a guitar rather than a drum kit.(smile)So at the ripe old age of six, sure enough I got my first guitar.
Little did my mom know-not knowing at first how to tune the dam thing- would create the same effect that she tried to avoid in the first place,(with the makeshift drum kit I used)Yeah, if there was a very sour flat or sharp note out there, I played them all,(come to think of it if only I would have had a Marshall Stack way back then, why I could have had every dog in the neighborhood howling in harmony when I hit the high notes with enough sustain...smile)...anyway, once again my mom's logic took over and decided that perhaps guitar lessons would be in order.(I was of course all for this as it gave me a chance to drive yet another person insane-yes, I was such a sweet and adorable child-smile)My guitar teacher was great,(He also had a full head of hair when he began teaching me..Just screwing with you,..nothing happened to his hair-smile,although I did make him laugh when I said an arpeggio was some form of Italian Breakfast cereal...you know kind of like cherrios,..always wondered why he loved his cereal so much !..yes I've always had this weird sense of humour even as a kid) anyway, he also loved to blow this whistle to tune his guitar, one of those old "pitch whistles"-I often thought it would be funny to replace it with one of those "Silent dog whistles" (Like I said..I was an adorable child-besides I had this thing about getting the neighborhood dogs to sing-haha) I'm just kidding, I did take some lessons at first to learn basics, but then started to play by ear by jamming along to records and tapes, but then at a later age again enrolled in lessons to actually learn to read music a bit and better understand music theory. I later began teaching guitar here in Winnipeg (and I left the Italian breakfast cereals out of my teaching repitoire-smile) for a few years as well, and jamming on stage with friends in local bands periodically,as we would party a lot in those days together,(actually almost passing out drunk really) along with my friend Jay who owned a bodypiercing shop here in Winnipeg.Anyway,I've matured a bit since then and slowed down a lot as far as my party stages go.As you get older your body starts complaining "what the F*#$". (smile) Besides any of my really close friends will tell you I "am" a walking Party !!(smile-after they tell you warn you about getting me drunk and too happy-because my stupid sense of humor comes out and I like to crack dumb jokes that only usually I can understand-but it's all good because I laugh at them too- so everybody's happy !!)Anyway,(Too much information Rob !) My Look too has changed drastically over the years,my hair was once down to my ass,and I had a few piercings at one time. But my basic love for music and my attitude is about the same-maybe a lot more mellow these days I would say. I don't party hardly as hard as I used to- (although once in a while I like to prove to myself that I'm still invincable....you L.A.party animals know what I mean-smile)I have been a target shooter since the age of 18 years old and have held positions in my younger days as both a Peace Officer and an armed guard (aside from my Music and acting gigs) I have always been a supporter of a persons Right to defend themself-although here in Canada it is very hard to get a permit for self-defencive purposes-as even though our Canadian Constitution recognizes it (Right to life, liberty and "security of the person")Good luck with obtaining a permit for that purpose.Anyway- I have always supported Firearm owners rights and have also supported the NRA as well in the US. I hate liberal minded Big name Hollywood producers/directors and even some stars as well, who claim they are staunchly anti-gun,then go make a multi-million dollar movie where guns and killing is predominately part of most of the action in the film.
You're either anti-gun or your not...but dont be hypocrite and say you are...then go profit off some movie where people are shooting other people, and use those profits from movies like that to go support some anti-gun politcians political campaign...it just makes you look like a hypocritcal ass !! anyway-that's my views on that.Musically,My tastes vary quite widely- I love to listen to almost everything, pop, rock, metal, blues, latin, country, etc.
I grew up loving all the guitar greats,Page,Hendrix,Young,BB king,(and many other blues guitarists)Stevie Ray Vaughn,Slash,Zakk Wylde,Steve Vai,Satriani.etc.so as you can see by the videos posted,my musical taste varies greatly.Just a few personal notes about myself here, I am a very friendly, outgoing guy and can get along with anybody. My feelings about this is if you treat people will friendliness and respect they will do likewise.I treat everybody equally with the same amount of respect, irregardless of their social status.
I don't care what type of backround a person has as long as they are honest, caring, friendly and dependable people I can count on,-these are the type of people I call a friend. I never make promises I can't keep,so if I say I will do somthing,I always follow through- in true Capricorn Fashion.(smile)Back in the old days a mans handshake was his good word/bond,there wasn't a huge need for legal papers and signatures, and although I realize times have changed drastically as everyone wants to make a quickbuck these days over litigations of all kinds,- I still believe that a mans word is his word, his dignity and reputation are still judged that way even though the need for contracts are a neccessity these days. This is true both in business and personal life.I must apologize, but I have removed my personal E-mail addesses from here due to the fact I was recieving countless frivilous junk mail and Nigerian scam artists E-mailing me,so if anyone wants to contact me it will have to be through my mail box here at myspace. Thanks.
