About Me

Percussionist/Singer/Songwriter Laine toured nationally for 4 years with World Music Band, The Presidents, honing her musical skills with great jazz players and studying ethnomusicology. Playing roughly 300 gigs a year alongside members from Don Cherry's band, she has played in front of crowds ranging from 50 to 50,000, headlining in venues as diverse as the Afrocaribbean Music Festival in Veracruz, Mexico to the Ford Ampitheater in Vail. Her solo project is more trance pop with a jazz flavor. Her lyrics have been described as "poetic" adding "serious substance" to her songs. Laine has performed for 15 years, playing literally thousands of gigs and guesting on several albums, including Avishai Cohen's 'Lyla" and Alexi Murdochs new album. Her songs were at 1 positions on Mp3's pop/rock chart for several weeks, and she won recognition in the 2001 John Lennon Songwriting Contest. Laine is also a featured artist on Mperia.com as well as their "best of" compilation cd, and has several songs featured in the film "The Second Degree". Laine is also a featured artist on the indietunes "Independent Artist Aid- Hope Never Dies" tsunami relief cd, which is available for purchase here: http://indienetunes.com/indiecat/catalog/index.php?cPath=180 . Her new EP "Burning Time" has attracted the attention of industry professionals and was just released in 2007.
