About Me

By the grace of God, I am alive. The name given to me by my parents Carmen and Teodorico, is Eugene Baylon Jaceldo, my middle name being my mother's maiden name. I was born in CArigara, a small fishing village north coast of the Visayan Island of Leyte, Philippines, September 4, 1961. About 4, I recieved my first piano instructions from the Benedictine nuns in Holy Cross. I quit piano lessons as soon as I was able to learn and play a pop tune on my own on that piano. Shortly after that I learned how to play the ukelele. As soon as my fingers were long enough, I learned how to play the guitar, watching and listening to other guitar players. When my family immigrated to the United States in 1972, I was 10 yrs old. In a rural town Petersburg, VA, I first heard music coming from the hill above us... some one kept playing Smoke on the Water on the bass all day, all week, all summer. Later in my adult life, I was mystically led back into music. While roaming the streets of San Francisco, I met Sonny Simmons, whose sounds I followed from downtown to a hill near union square. I spent the whole afternoon in the rain listening to Sonny play in the sidewalk. A few years later, Sonny would be calling me to play bass for him whenever he had a gig. In 1990, Sonny intoduced me to his son Zarak who played the drums. We all went to Sandor's house to jam. From that moment on, I realized how music is all at once a treasure and a blessing from God. I continue my journey in life, at 46, working on a degree in music education from Cal State San Bernardino.I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4 I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4 I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
