"Despite all my rage I am still just a rat in a cage." Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins angrily screamed that into a taped down microphone over and over again on the stage. Those words echoed throughout America, be it on tv or radio or computer. That one line sparked an entire generation of post corporate takeover into an emotional musical journey that is, even today, being heard all around the world. Is it a sign that the youth are getting restless and things are heating up? Could be. I will say the very same lyric was what did me in. It inspired me to pick up playing guitar and songwriting when I was the very awkward and most impressionable age of 12. I taught myself through an acoustic guitar book by Russ Shipton that was a hand-me-down from my father. He used to strum chords for me when I was a wee Dante, sometimes softly singing an old Italian song. From then on, expression of my emotions through music became my drug, my therapy. I’ve written a thousand songs and I will write a thousand more if time wills it. I have turned bad days into creative nights and lost loves into poetic memorials.
I recently moved to the Chi from Tucson, AZ. I came out here to engulf myself into an already booming and historic music scene. It would be nice to leave a lasting impression, but I have a long way to go. Living in Chicago has inspired me to think more about my life, my current situation, and my important but uncertain future. I command these thoughts, provoking music and words to dance in the form of song.
"UnderTheBlueMoon", my first ever full length album, is now available for download here on Myspace. It is comprised of 13 tracks that were written from 2001 to 2007 (Annie being the oldest and Be Right Out the newest). Upcoming shows are in the works in the Chicago area where the CD will be available to purchase as well. Thank you all for your support and your kind words throughout the recording process and enjoy the record.
