About Me

AOL INSTANT MESSENGER: WhoIsHaro
PLEASE BE PATIENT -- MORE PICTURES, AUDIO AND VIDEO MEDIA COMING VERY SOON H A R O Drummer, Artist, Photographer, self-educated student of Tao, little calm center of the world. Haro's patience could be described almost as endless. His mission is basic. Never stop growing, never stop learning, always find a way to better ones self. The technique he has developed as a drummer has been a combination of many influences throughout his life.
The earliest traces of Haro's love for music could be from his father. A Deacon and band leader earlier in his hometown of Beirut, Lebanon, his father had a lust for music that was only overshadowed for the love of his family. Unfortunatly, he passed away when Haro was a young boy.
"To this day, my drumming, my creativity and the reason I educate myself and grow--is all for the glory of my father. I will never forget him. He should never be forgotten. He was a very creative human being."
As he grew older, he would listen to the likes of Synth and Electronica intrigued by the pulsating beats they created. This infused a love of percussion into Haro's heart. Thereafter, in 1996, Haro first heard the sounds of grunge. Something in the music stirred him to pick up the drums and play. He saved up and finally bought a drum set and set out to play.
"I know I was a late bloomer with the grunge scene, but I wasn't so much of a free spirit at the age of 10. Who really is?I didn't know what grunge was" Haro states. "When I began dropping the following of trend and became more independent is when I started getting into visual and auditory art."
In the late ninties, Haro was now keeping up with sounds of mainstream rock while learning at a very fast pace. Although he was into the rock scene, he desired to break away from the standard sounds that were being repeated over and over on the radio. He started listening to Heavy Metal and becoming inspired by the playing of legendaries such as Vinnie Paul Abbott and Igor Cavalera. He played in a couple metal bands, but longed for a sound with more melody than screaming.
He was playing fairly regularly with his band, during the Nu-Metal craze that was infecting the Sunset Strip. He again grew tired of the repeated sounds he was hearing -- drummers playing the same techniques over and over. At this point, he began studying poly-rhythms in his spare time.
After the collapse of his then-formulated band, Haro fell out of the rock scene for a bit and devoted his drumming to bettering himself, not only as a drummer, but as a person. He began the studies of Taoism, Kriya Yoga and grew a keen interest towards Eastern Philosophy. He began experimenting with time signatures, dynamic volume control, and different set configurations. He also explored many different types of music to find inspiration from such as the Jazz likes of Buddy Rich Big Band, David King & Max Weinberg as well as Metal, Folk, Rock, Classical and World music.
"I realized that all forms of liberation through art may be a release of all emotions. Not just anger, but love, strive, success, suffering, hapiness, confidence and of course, realization of who you are and the people around you."
At this point, Haro progressed and experimented with new styles of music while trying to progress his abilities. He focused on implementing songs that were different than anything he had done before.
To this date, Haro has not stopped learning. He continously seeks out new methods of playing and studies the theories and disciplines of music. Haro calculates and structures beats with a different approach. This way he is comfortable with transitional pace and tempo. It's his undying passion to be the best he can be that makes him an inspiration to many of his peers.
