I am here for Friends

About Me

..This profile was edited with Thomas' myspace editor™ V2.5So here I am. After much coaxing from friends and co-workers, I've decided to take the plunge and do this My Space thing. So far so good. I never had trouble meeting people, but this seems like a fun little environment to be in. Basically I live here in sunny (not of late) California with the hopes of becoming a writer. I used to be interested mainly in screenwriting, but working in the biz sometimes gives you a huge wake-up call and of late I'll be content with writing the advertising on a box of catnip. Writing is writing and I've come to the conclusion that whatever medium allows me to do that, I'll be a happy man. But until then, I've got to take on the role of Sisyphus and keep pushing that boulder up the hill (pretty deep, huh?).

You Should Be a Film Writer
You don't just create compelling stories, you see them as clearly as a movie in your mind.
You have a knack for details and dialogue. You can really make a character come to life.
Chances are, you enjoy creating all types of stories. The joy is in the storytelling.
And nothing would please you more than millions of people seeing your story on the big screen! What Type of Writer Should You Be?
You scored as Indiana Jones. Indiana Jones is an archaeologist/adventurer with an unquenchable love for danger and excitement. He travels the globe in search of historical relics. He loves travel, excitement, and a good archaeological discovery. He hates Nazis and snakes, perhaps to the same degree. He always brings along his trusty whip and fedora. He's tough, cool, and dedicated. He relies on both brains and brawn to get him out of trouble and into it.

Music:

The Beatles are GODS. No ifs, ands, or buts. But I am open enough to know that there are other groups/musicians out there worth a damn. So here goes in no particular order: THE DOORS, OINGO-BOINGO, METALLICA, THE STONES, ABBA, WEEZER, AEROSMITH, N'SYNC (J/K - checking to see if you're paying attention!), BEASTIE BOYS, FRANZ FERDINAND, NO DOUBT, CREDENCE, TALKING HEADS, PET SHOP BOYS, BONEY M (Im sure you havent heard of these guys, but they're AWESOME!), U2, NOVA, John, Paul, George, Ringo, Peter Gabriel, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Louis Armstrong, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Janis Joplin, David Bowie, Elvis, Cat Stevens, Bruce Springsteen, Prince, Johnny Cash, Joe Cocker, 80's music, I'm sure there are a lot more but that's what e-mails are for! Oh and as a hardcore cinema-phile, how can I forget those wonderful movie scores. John Williams, the late, great Jerry Goldsmith and Bernard Hermann, Danny Elfman, Hans Zimmer, and Ennio Moriconne are my absolute favorites.

My brother...the most talented person I know!

Movies:

THE GODFATHER! I must say that Francis Ford Coppola's film is simply the GREATEST movie ever made. And I welcome any (and all arguments). But again, like music, I have a whole other giant list of films that must be seen. Here goes: ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST , RAGING BULL, THE 400 BLOWS, PULP FICTION, MILLION DOLLAR BABY, PSYCHO, NORTH BY NORTHWEST, FARGO, BARTON FINK, STRANGERS ON A TRAIN, VERTIGO, PATHS OF GLORY, GOODFELLAS, VAN HELSING (J/K - again just making sure you are listening!!!), BONNIE & CLYDE, DOG DAY AFTERNOON, ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST, CITIZEN KANE, ANNIE HALL (the greatest romantic comedy of all time!), MANHATTAN, STAR WARS, SIDEWAYS, HEAT, CLOCKWORK ORANGE, ALIEN, M, SINGIN' IN THE RAIN, RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK, SAVING PVT. RYAN, OUTLAW JOSEY WALES, JFK, SOME LIKE IT HOT, A HARD DAY'S NIGHT, BOOGIE NIGHTS, THE SEARCHERS, the HARRY POTTER films, A FACE IN THE CROWD, THE PHANTOM OF THE PARADISE, JAMES BOND films (even the bad ones), BEING JOHN MALKOVICH, MEMENTO, A FISH CALLED WANDA ("Don't call me stupid!!!"), HALLOWEEN, MULHOLLAND DRIVE, ADAPTATION, THE BICYCLE THIEF, SE7EN, the original KING KONG, THREE KINGS, Kenneth Branagh's HAMLET, MUNICH, BATMAN BEGINS, Wallace & Gromit Martin Scorsese, Woody Allen, Sergio Leone, Clint Eastwood, Alfred Hitchcock, Fritz Lang, Oliver Stone, the Coen brothers, Sidney Lumet, Robert Zemeckis, David Lynch, Tim Burton, Akira Kurusawa, Jim Jarmusch, Quentin Tarantino, Christopher Nolan, Spike Jonze, Paul Haggis, Charlie Kaufman, (old) Steven Spielberg, westerns, mysteries, adventure films, tragedies, every single film from the 1970's (the best decade in terms of cinema), and every single film from LAUREL & HARDY, the greatest comedy team of all time. Check out this documentary!!!

Television:

While the cinema of late hasn't been all that, I must say that television has made up for more than enough. The greatest drama on TV right now is without a doubt 24. For pure edge-of-your-seat excitement, you can't go wrong with Jack Bauer & Co. But there is more....Once the black sheep of the LAW & ORDER franchise, L&O: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT has grown to be the best, the darkest, the most interesting. What else? THE SIMPSONS, 350 episodes and still going strong. .. width="425" height="350" .. I have a no sitcom policy, so it's refreshing to have such anti-sitcoms as ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT (hopefully coming back!), SCRUBS, and CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM on the air. I also love DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, as un-guilty as guilty pleasures get.24 puts most action movies to shame. Plus THE SHIELD is quite possibly the best cop show on TV, but alas I have no cable so it'll have to wait for DVD!!!

Heroes:

Martin Scorsese has always been a hero of mine as a young kid. Everything he stands for in the film business I can not respect enough. A true film connoisseur, his movies exude his passion for cinema in every frame. And of course my Mom and baby bro who keep me grounded and keep me going day in and day out.....
