The many sides of Rockin' Henri:

Influences:

50's and early 60's international rock & roll, meaning:
* jumpblues
* houserock
* jive
* rockabilly
* 50's countryrock
* 50's soul
* 50's softrock
* black rock & roll
* doowop
* acappella
* novelty rock
* highschool rock
* chicanorock
* instro
* twist
* surf
* girl group sound
* indorock (Dutch-Indonesian rock & roll)

* surirock (Dutch-Surinam rock & roll)

Revival-rock & roll like;
* neo-rockabilly
* neo-doowop
* neo-jive
* teddyboy rock & roll
* neo-surf and other revival styles
Have Vintage & Revival rock & roll from over 60 countries. Most in their national languages. I love it, although I can't understand a word of most languages, haha.

Secondary interest:
* 50's/early 60's rock & roll related German Schlager
* 50's/early 60's Italopop
* a bit 50's Latin American
* a bit 50's Hawaiian
* a bit 50's country
* a bit 50's blues
* 50's/early 60's rockin' (alike) filmthemes

Like/Love to see: * of course beautiful women
* vintage 50's cars
* vintage 50's motor scooters

* 50's/early 60's movies, including rock & roll movies (except for that crappy Elvis movies, with some exceptions) (preferrably black/white movies, so the more social critical low budget movies, not that glamorous hollywood productions, except for some exceptions of course) and retro rock & roll movies (you know, movies like American Graffity/Graffiti and the likes on the US side and Lemon Popsicle (Eis Am Stiel) on the German/Israelian side).
* documentaries about rock & roll and rock & roll culture.
* 50's/early 60's only comedy movies like Pink Panther series, Jerry Lewis (USA), some Louis de Funes (France), Don Camillo (Italy)(the original ones, not that 70's crap re-productions), Toto alias Antiono de Curtis (Italy)(especially the movie "Toto, Frabrizi e i giovani d'oggi" (from Mario Mattoli with Toto, Aldo Frabrizi and Christine Kaufmann. German title: "Toto, Frabrizi und die jungen Leute von Heute", I have the German synchronised spoken version), Heinz Erhardt (Germany), Miss Marple (UK), some Jacques Tati (France) and recently Mr. Bean (UK) (simple but excellent). Although these comedies might be a bit silly for nowadays standards, they are simple and good.
* Edgar Wallace early 60's crime series with always some music in it from then wellknown rock & roll/schlager artists.

In 2003 I introduced Rick Hardy a.k.a. Rick Richards from London, then completely unknown (except for the Cockney Theatre scene), to a wider audience. Sadly enough Rick passed away 11th of december 2006 after a car accident on 10th of december 2006.
Rick Hardy is:
* The founder of Cliff Richard & The Shadows in that he brought Bruce Welch and Hank Marvin in touch with Cliff in 1958. He also gave Cliff his last name: Richards. (everything is proofed with photographs and notes)
* The one who paved the way for the early Beatles in Hamburg , since he was member of rock & roll band The Jets, with Tony Sheridan, being the very first British rock & roll-band in Germany. Tony Sheridan had together with the Beatles, their first hit in 1961: Mein Bonnie/My Bonny.
* The very first British singer recording a record in Germany (sadly enough just dixieland, no rock & roll, strange move for a rocker then......but okay, the record company decided) in 1961 and in Thailand in 1968!
* The resident at the legendary coffeebar "The 2 I's" in 1958 and 1959 (the birth place of many British rock & roll stars like, Wee Willie Harris, Vince Taylor, Vince Eager, Terry Dene, Cliff & The Shadows, Joe Brown, Tommy Steele, Adam Faith, Marty Wilde, Billy Fury and the likes......and also Gene Vincent performed there in 1959!).
* The one who replaced Terry Denver a.k.a. Adam Faith as lead vocalist of the Worried Man Skiffle Group, when Adam went solo.
* The one who had his own skiffle group in 1957: Rick Richards' Skiffle Group
** and was member in 1958 of Cliff Richard's Drifters with Terry Smart, Ian Samwell, Norman Mitham, Cliff. Because he refused an offer from Cliff to stay with the group, he was not part of the band that became famous a few months later: The Shadows.
** was also member of Clay Nicholls & The Blue Flames in 1959 together with Joe Brown.
* The one who had a small role in the British cultmovie Trainspotting in 1996.

In 2003 I spent four days with Rick in The Netherlands and Luxemburg. That year I had an interview at the local radiostation for which I had my own radioshow. In 2004 I got him in touch with The Int. Cliff & Shadows Meeting, where he appeared on stage with former fellow Brian Locking (in 1958/1959 they played together in The Worried Men, Brian turned to Vince Taylor's Playboys in 1959 and later on to The Shadows in 1963). I gave Rick on stage a copy of Boppin' Around magazine with a complete story on Rick Hardy. Same year Rick got from The International Fender Club a Hank Marvin Signature Fender Stratocaster guitar for his formation of The Shadows!
Rick is an excellent Johnny Cash impersonator! Close your eyes and it's as if Johhny is next to you!!!!

SONGS OF ROCKIN' HENRI'S SECOND RECORDING SESSION AT LIGHTNING RECORDERS, 4 & 5 APRIL 2007, THIRD RECORDING SESSION AT STUDIO-D, 6 JULY 2007 AND FOURTH RECORDING SESSION AT STUDIO-D, 9 NOVEMBER 2007 AVAILABLE AT YOUTUBE!!!!! Rockin' Henri At Youtube
The songs of my first recording session sound like vintage: rockabilly, hillbilly, doowop, ballads, highschool rock.

Part of the songs here are from my very first studio recording session ever in Berlin in april 2006 at the old location of LRS. My recording session was the last one there. LRS (Lightning Recording Service (now called Lightning Recorders) is affiliated/related to Rhythm Bomb Records) is a true vintage recording studio with reel to reel taperecorder, tube mixer, tape echo etc. (btw: everything is tube/valve there, haha!). I choose this studio since my songs were true 50's/early 60's songs and I liked them to sound that way, even if the dynamic is less than from a nowadays digital studio. I'm not completely satisfied with my voice, I miss the 'singing' in my voice, because I had to shout to hear myself in the studio, but okay.....first time (no experience), you know ;-) We have recorded even much better songs than these, but those will be available on CD later on (at least I hope). However the 2007 session was much better as you can hear yourself! (As a reviewer of the Rhythm Bomb Records CD's (actually Rhythm Bomb Song is a tribute to that label) I was familiar with the brilliant 50's sound, and I also was impressed when I saw The Round Up Boys play live, when they were in the south of The Netherlands. So the decision for LRS was easily made, although Berlin is seven hours driving away from my hometown.....but I wouldn't have missed it). Please be aware the songs here CAN'T BE DOWNLOADED, just listened to.

Photos of Rockin' Henri's second recording session, 4 & 5 april 2007, Berlin (BELOW).
The songs of my second recording session sound like vintage: rockabilly, hillbilly, doowop, ballads, highschool rock and even one song sounds like revival: teddyboy r&r.

Photos of Rockin' Henri's fifth recording session, 9 & 10 april 2008, Berlin (BELOW).
The songs of my fifth recording session sound like vintage rockabilly, ballads, highschool rock, doowop.

The songs of my third recording session sound like revival rockabilly, ballads, highschool rock.

The songs from the 2006 & 2007 sessions have been recorded live without dubs, that's how I felt they had to be recorded and we were able to do so. I don't know if dubbing would have given a better result, but 'live' to me means: no tricks, spontaneous (so honest), true (if you're bad, one can hear it and if you're good also, no hiding), not perfect (so right from the heart), more emotional (you all play together at the same time). Drawback of course is that recording a whole day is 'demolishing'.

Session 5-4-2006: The songs have been recorded with the nucleus of The Round Up Boys (Germany) and Ike from Ike & The Capers/Spo-Dee-O-Dee (Germany). GREAT guys!
Session 4-4-2007 & 5-4-2007: The songs have been recorded with the Rock-A-Tones (compiled from members from The Round Up Boys (Germany), Ike & The Capers/Spo-Dee-O-Dee (Germany) and Cherry Casino & The Gamblers (Germany). GREAT guys!
On both sessions: Me just on vocals (I play guitar only on my demos, at the moment) and were only leading the songs on my guitar. For those who are not familiar with the quality of these guys: they accompanied on recordings at LRS studio (by mid 2006 it is called Lightning Recorders) some famous 50's rockers like Charlie Gracie, Glen Honeycutt, Huelyn Duvall and Rayburn Anthony!
Session 6-7-2007: The songs have been recorded with the The Letzebillies (Luxembourg/Germany). GREAT guys! Me on vocals.
Session 9-11-2007: The songs have been recorded with the The Letzebillies (Luxembourg/Germany). TERRIFIC guys! Me on vocals.
Recording session 5-4-2006: A total of 14 songs have been recorded at one day, two of them being recorded twice. Two German songs, the remainder English. All self penned songs. The songs have been registered with a copyright organisation.
Recording session 4-4-2007 & 5-4-2007: A total of 17 songs have been recorded at two days, two of them being recorded twice. One German song, one Dutch song, the remainder English. All self penned songs. The songs have been registered with a copyright organisation.
Recording session 6-7-2007: A total of 8 songs have been recorded at one day. All in English. All self penned songs. The songs have been registered with a copyright organisation.
Recording session 9-11-2007: A total of 8 songs have been recorded at one day. One in German, remainder in English. Two covers and others all self penned songs. The songs have been registered with a copyright organisation.
One of my songs, White Cadillac, has been recorded with a Stray Cats flavour by US band Al & The Black Cats, whom I extensively advised (for about six months!) for their European tour, on their album 'The Fabulous Rockabilly Sounds Of' on Rooby Records. I've recorded this song with Axel, Michael, Ike and Torsten twice, in Chuck Berry style and Buddy Holly style.
My demos already have been played on American, Dutch and Swedish radio as also goes for the second CD from 2007 (on radio in: Netherlands and Sweden).
