Battles Emerge was formed in the fall of 2004 by (guitarist/vocalist)Jr.Ortega,
and (drummer)Oscar Gonzalez.Along with help of their old lead guitarist,and old bassist.(their name's aren't important)After only a few months of writing
and rehearsing original material,they played their first show with great success.
Following several shows,they were forced to drop their bassist feeling he was
not suitable for the band.After months of searching they replaced him with another
bassist who was friends with Jr.Continuing to write new material and refining
their sound they decided to start playing shows again,as well as recording a 3 song demo.Shortly after recording their demo tension started building within the band they were forced to drop their lead guitarist due to his personal issues,as
well as issues with certain members in the band.So once again the remaining
members of the band were faced with another setback.Playing a few shows as
a three piece,they decided they needed to look for a second guitarist.In the
process of looking for a lead guitarist,they came across a keyboardist by the
name of "Madd Matt".Knowing keys would add a new dimension to the music,
they decided to go in that direction and further developed their sound.It seems
just like the band was beginning to evolve and they were forced with the decision
of finding a new bassist.Luckily a close friend (Cesar Barajas)offered to play bass for them,but he ended up joining the band as a second guitarist.You could say it was a natural transition,since he had previously helped out the band by
playing a few shows with him filling in on bass and guitar duties.After several lineup changes,it seems like the band finally feels complete with the edition of
new bassist Esteban Garcia.
