...Rock On!...

About Me

Nina Curri is an outstanding artist of East Indian and Italian descent. Born in Florida & raised in Phoenix, Az. Her musical roots come from her mother who performed as a folk musician during the early 60's in Greenwich Village and her father who enjoyed listening to and performing east indian bhajans & ghazals. After years of performing as a blues singer, Nina has developed the ability to meld songbird-like vocals with a powerhouse blues range. Her music is introspective and real, while combining acoustic folk with an electric sound.Living in Texas for several years allowed her to cut her teeth in cities rich in music and diverse in talent. Houstons eclectic venues, blues history and 6th street in Austin gave her opportunities to develop as a well-rounded artist. She has had the opportunity to share the stage with many talented & legendary artists such as Chico Chism, Milton Hopkins (cousin of Lightnin' Hopkins) and Delbert McClinton. She was awarded 'Top Traditional Artist' by The Phoenix Blues Society in '99 and has recorded as guest vocalist on Dean Murphy's 'Love these Blues' and Shelby James' 'Downs on Ninth' discs.Nina is a graduate of Northern Arizona University. During her college years in Flagstaff, she performed in a community organized rendition of the Broadway musical, 'HAIR'. Dance has always been an integral part of her life with training in Jazz, Ballet, Modern & Bellydance. Currently she is planning a studio recording project...collaborating with Arizona musicians.
