Khawar Aziz aka Mistah Khaki aka MC Vibe, has been experimenting with his
vocal talent since 2000. After starting off with a nu-metal group called KRAVE,
it didn.t take long before they were winning competitions, being requested for
gigs and were soon to be set for a bigger stage. Some of the titles achieved
inclided Champion of FM903 Band Competition in 2002, and the TOM LEE ..LIFE
ROCKS.. Runner-Up in 2004. Publicity came quickly for VIBE, as he introduced
himself as his unique self, with his identifiable style. Before setting off on
individual paths, KRAVE pulled another trophy as Champions of the Joint
University Band Sound, before they were then broadcasted on ROADSHOW throughout
Hong Kong.
Diversity is the key element of MC VIBE, and his group/band experience has shown
this so far. His 2nd group consisted of modern-rock/alternative, titled FIRST
LAST KISS. FLK were quick to get recognition again, after coming Runner-UP in
the YAMAHA ASIAN BEAT, one of Hong Kong..s most prestigious music competitions.
With his recognition throughout Hong Kong rapidly growing, it was important for
VIBE to be involved in all sorts of projects, even if it meant 2 bands at once!
He started up DIMEYEZ with 3 other very talented vocalists. The 4 member-group
focused on twisting urban and alternative sounds, bringing out what could almost
be considered as soulful-pop.
Throughout all this, Mistah Khaki set up Movement 2K4, an event that turned over
great success with live music and DJs from some of HK..s best amateur
performers. That same year (2004), he was invited to perform at exclusive gigs
such as the Grand Opening of BILLABONG, the X-Games Super Girl show, and several
shows in Guangzhou (China) with local favourites Sang Fan and MP4.
2005 saw the introduction of MC VIBE as a solo artist. He left his day job and
started becoming one of the most involved urban artists in the nightlife scene
of Hong Kong. He was one of the first MCs to hold a residency in a nightclub.
It was not until 2006 that we saw MC VIBE spread his sound to larger and more
influential audiences. When he was invited to record a song on the soundtrack for Jacky
Chan's latest movie titled Rob B Hood, alongside being invited to perform at the
opening of The Hong Kong Entertainment Expo 2006 (in the presence of the governor of
Hong Kong(Donald Tsang) and many other celebrities. After extensive involvement
in the music industry and having performed in front of over 3000 people he continues to find the sound pure to him.
His current key music influences are Hip Hop, Electronica, Soul, Drum n Bass,
Reggae, Dub and Fusion and anything fresh that intrigues him.
