Born on 27th March 1986 to a Mauritian father and a West Indian (Trinidad) mother, Rajiv was raised, along with his younger sister, in the small town of Chadwell Heath in Essex. From an early age Rajiv showed his creative side by taking a particular interest in Art and more notably Music. Having recognised his dream for singing from an early age, Rajiv decided to make the most of his talent.
Not being content with singing in front of the mirror Rajiv started to showcase his talent at his local high school and immediately received tremendous acclaim for his soulful and smooth voice. As a perfectionist, Rajiv strove to improve his raw talent by taking singing lessons with a locally well-known teacher as well as attending a theatre school in order to hone his acting and dance skills.
Throughout his teen years Rajiv performed in public, often singing songs by admired artists, such as Craig David, Brian McKnight and Luther Vandross. Growing up, Rajiv began to write his own music, taking inspiration from the world of R’n’B, Pop, Hip Hop and Rock music. This eclectic musical taste is evidence of his open mind to the music industry and can be heard in his own composition style.
Supported by his family and friends, Rajiv started studying at a music college in Sidcup, which he currently attends as a student of Multimedia Design. This has given him a greater insight into the music business and has furthered his interest in production and music technology whilst giving him the opportunity to compose, produce and record his own songs.
Rajiv’s concentration is currently focussed on his degree and on creating music for his demo album, which he is writing the songs for, composing backing tracks and producing the work too. He is also expected to perform his new tracks at public events in and around London, so watch this space, as Rajiv will soon be bringing down the house at a venue near you!
