Munger @ The Cubby Bear 1-19-07
Munger of West Chicago started out as a five-piece band with two singers in April of 2002. With the passage of time, change was inevitable and new members were added to enhance the quality of the group. Joining J. Munger (Guitarist and vocalist) are the newest additions, Adam Flores(Bass) and Dave Cogozzo (Drums). With these new artists, the band is more streamlined and their play has reached a highly professional level.Throughout their brief history, they have been making quite a name for themselves on the local scene. They have played such popular Chicago venues as The Cubby Bear, U. S. Beer Company and the Note, as well as Penny Road Pub in Barrington Il and 602N. in Glendale Heights, where they won battle of the bands. While Munger is well known for having played with many excellent local bands, they have also played dates in other states and opened for a number of national acts including Chevelle, Cold, P.O.D., Future Leaders of the World, and The Good Year Pimps. As a result of these concert experiences they gained quite a following and shown their mainstream appeal to diverse audiences. It has been said that Munger puts their own special edge on rock music and has been consistently able to pull off all their songs acoustically better than bands that specialize in all acoustic sets. In a time when so many groups sound alike, Munger has been able to develop a sound and style that is uniquely their own. In the process of doing this, they have achieved a level of artistry that few groups ever attain. So many of Munger's songs are of hit quality that there is never a dull moment during their performances. When you add to this the highly energetic atmosphere that pervades all of their play, it is no wonder that their fan base continues to grow. Their music seems always to catch the ear of people of many differing musical tastes. Those who have an opportunity to listen to them will find that the music and lyrics remain with them and they have had an experience they will not soon forget.
