Music:
(Not really in any particular order, except for the first two)
The Velvet Underground and anything Lou Reed or John Cale did on their own, anything with Mike Patton in it (Mr. Bungle, fantomas, Faith No More, Tomahawk, Peeping Tom, and his solo stuff), The Mekons, Alice Donut, The Violent Femmes, The Legendary Pink Dots, Leonard Cohen, Talking Heads, The Pogues, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The New York Dolls, Patti Smith, Skinny Puppy, Queen, Etta James, The Meat Puppets, The Misfits, Devo, Butthole Surfers, Bob Dylan, Albert King, Tool, OTEP, The Melvins, Bikini Kill, The Grateful Dead, The Virgin Prunes, John Lee Hooker, Pink Floyd, Iggy Pop, Soundgarden, Garbage, The Dead Milkmen, David Bowie, Pennywise, The Sex Pistols, Dead Kennedys, Richard Hell and the Voidoids, Buzzcocks, Bloodhound Gang, Beastie Boys, Cake, Prince, Nine Inch Nails, Dropkick Murphys, Nick Cave, The Cure, Tom Waits, Rancid, The Doors, Fiona Apple, Orgy, Janis Joplin, King Missile, The B52s, Television, The Ramones, The Pixies, Frank Sinatra, Blondie, No Doubt, Rob Zombie, Bob Marley, The Dresden Dolls, Sublime, System of a Down, Kittie, Insane Clown Posse, Hole, Big Mama Thornton, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Plasmatics, Jane's Addiction, The Clash, White Zombie . . .
There's so much, but that's the best I can do for right now, those are the top ones anyway. Music is gigantic, rarely do I do anything without music in the background, and there's not much that I don't listen to at some point or another. The few things that I don't listen to are country, boy bands (although i do dig that oombop song, ha, you never would have guessed), celine dion-whitney houston love songs after dark type shit. I don't listen to a lot of pop or rap, but there is some.
Movies:
Rocky Horror Picture Show, A Clockwork Orange, Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Clerks II, Donnie Darko, Psycho, House of 1000 Corpses, The Devil's Rejects, May, Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original), The Breakfast Club, Harold and Maude, Waking Life, Caligula, Resevoir Dogs, Requiem for a Dream, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest . . . . . .
Television:
Most current t.v. pretty much sucks, but I do dig that Stewie kid. I love the Addams Family, the Munsters, old Twilight Zone and old Outer Limits, Punky Brewster, Bosom Buddies (when was the last time you thought about that show?), the Wonder Years, Alf. Pee Wee Herman rocks my world, I love the Muppet Show and the Fraggles, old Sesame Street (pre elmo) and 80s cartoons especially She-Ra, Jem and the Smurfs (even if they are Commies, I'm ok with commies). I really dig some of that discovery/ learning channel type shit, the one in the taxi cab, that mythbusters show and the one with the roller coasters especially, i don't get into the animal ones. I don't have cable because it pisses me off, so I don't see much tv anymore, which is pretty cool. If it wasn't for Spongebob and Ron Popeil I might be able to stand it, but they don't seem to be going anywhere, so fuck it.
Books:
Edgar Allan Poe, John Irving, Tom Robbins, Kurt Vonnegut, H.P. Lovecraft, and Edna St. Vincent Millay.
Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, I Never Promised You a Rose Garden, The Bell Jar, The Phantom Tollbooth, The Chronicles of Narnia, Sybil, a lot of those time life books, National Geagraphic, Rolling Stone, Juxtapose, Mad Magazine, comic books, all sorts of horror and mystery books, old detective stories, the backs of cereal boxes and the Sunday paper.
Heroes:
Kevin Smith, Alfred Hitchcock, Edgar Allan Poe
