Anything by Mr. Miyazaki (though I was first hooked by his manga not his anime. His work seems to only get better. ) Wings of Desire, one of the most beautiful films ever, for both its imagery and its story. And it's got Nick Cave. Labyrinth, which will never get old for me. Buckaroo Banzai, if you get it you know why, if you don't you prolly never will. Star Wars (the original trilogy,) you don't need to ask why! The Pirates of Penzance, for instilling an obsession. Pirates of the Carribean, for fulfilling that obsession (with Johnny Depp *and* Orlando Bloom no less!) The Lord of the Rings, for bringing childhood dreams to life (without sucking!) And Bladerunner, Mad Max, and Indy: for weaving sci-fi, adventure, and fantasy together irrevocably. Oh and Big Trouble in Little China, just for being so damned twisted and funny.
All time Favorites- Star Trek: preferably original or Next Gen; but pretty much anything if I'm desperate. Buffy. Firefly. The Three Stooges: never gets old.(yeah I know they weren't originally t.v. but I wasn't born yet so that doesn't count.) Current:Lots of Bad Sci-fi Project Runway. Top Chef. Mythbusters. No Reservations (The Anthony Bourdain Travel Channel show, not the romantic comedy!) And Heroes. Which is pretty damn cool.
Favorites: Tolkien, Lloyd Alexander, Robin McKinley, Candas Jane Dorsey, Ursula LeGuin... Currently reading: Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell
