Polanski, Romero, Dario Argento, David Lynch, Russ Meyer, John Cassavettes, Jim Jarmusch, Miike Takeshi. Horror is my favourite genre but I never watch alone. Barfly and High Fidelity are probably the films I quote most when I am drunk. It's an irritating habit that I am not proud of.
TV is for the weak except for Twin Peaks (and Reno 911).
Paulo Cohelo (Veronika Decides to Die, The Alchemist), Charles Bukowski, John Fante, 'Naked Lunch' by William Burroughs, 'His Dark Materials' Trilogy by Phillip Pullman, trashy horror novels that take less than a day to read and give you nightmares, Chuck Palahiniuk, 'Where's Wally?', Alice Walker, 'The Celestine Prophecy', 'The Complete Adventures of Saki' by Hector Hugo Munro, Catch 22, 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest' Ken Kesey, 'Brave New World', Michael Marshall Smith.
