About Me

I tend to you use my music profile or Facebook more than this profile so add me on either of those or write me a letter or call me up or come visit me.

My Interests

Country music, horror, languages, ping-pong, crosswords, mah-jong, poetry, Final Fantasy VII, writing, vegan thai buffet, Jameson's on ice, second-hand books with personal dedications, reading books I think will make me look cool, filter coffee, dreamcast and emulators of retro consoles, G2 and The Guide, writing letters I don't send, Warcraft, sarcasm (it's the lowest form of wit), conspiracy theories, comics.

I'd like to meet:

Chris Isaak is King!

Lil the dancer.

Pajo

Music:

Instead of my usual list here are some of my favourite albums that I would recommend to someone:
The Paperchase - God Bless Your Black Heart
The National - Alligator
Cursive - The Ugly Organ
Grant Lee Buffallo - Fuzzy
Chris Isaak - Forever Blue
Kate Bush - Hounds of Love
Harry Chapin - The Road to Kingdom Come
Dean Friedman - Well, well, said the rocking chair
Ted Leo and the Pharmacists - Shake the Sheets
The Constantines - Shine a Light
Propagandhi - Today's Empire Tomorrow's Ashes
Mogwai - Rock Action
Against Me! - Reinventing Axle Rose
Onelinedrawing - The Visitor
The Goodlife - Album of the Year
16 Horsepower - Sackcloth n Ashes
Karate - The Bed is in the Ocean
John Fahey - Of Rivers and Religion

Movies:

Polanski, Romero, Dario Argento, David Lynch, Russ Meyer, John Cassavettes, Jim Jarmusch, Miike Takeshi. Horror is my favourite genre but I never watch alone. Barfly and High Fidelity are probably the films I quote most when I am drunk. It's an irritating habit that I am not proud of.

Television:

TV is for the weak except for Twin Peaks (and Reno 911).

Books:

Paulo Cohelo (Veronika Decides to Die, The Alchemist), Charles Bukowski, John Fante, 'Naked Lunch' by William Burroughs, 'His Dark Materials' Trilogy by Phillip Pullman, trashy horror novels that take less than a day to read and give you nightmares, Chuck Palahiniuk, 'Where's Wally?', Alice Walker, 'The Celestine Prophecy', 'The Complete Adventures of Saki' by Hector Hugo Munro, Catch 22, 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest' Ken Kesey, 'Brave New World', Michael Marshall Smith.

My Blog

One for the broad with the lazy eye

This weekend I trotted off on a small adventure armed with my guitar and some coach tickets. Spent 7 hours on the god damn coach to get to Stoke and meet Ozzy. We drank beer and ate hot and sour ...

Pennywell farm and hell

Yesterday I went to Pennywell farm. I played with the piglets and a baby lamb took a real liking to me. I also got to be an adult volunteer for the ferret racing and ended up stinking of ferrets. Then...

Girls, girls, girls.

It seems every time I go to a gig the audience us pretty much split 50/50 girls and boys so why does this ratio not match the number of female to male musicians? Why are we content to just watch the b...

This is how every day should be....sort of.

Today I woke from my slumber in the early afternoon, mooched around town, drank coffee, read the papers and did the crossword in the sun. This was all followed by my culinary masterpiece of vegan lasa...
