Strolling Scones

New album "Introretrospective" !!

About Me

The year was 1969. Popular British Invasion band The Strolling Scones were on their first North American tour. En route to Colorado to play for New Years Eve, the band had an accident of unknown cause and their VW micro bus careened off the road into Blue Mesa Reservoir. Search and rescue attempts failed, and the band was presumed dead. Early in 2004, exploratory drilling crews were dynamiting in the reservoir looking for underwater gas wells. They blew open an ice cave and the micro bus floated to the surface, with the band members inside in a state of suspended animation. Rushed to the Prestone Cryogenics Lab in Boulder for thawing, the miraculously preserved musicians were restored to their pre-accident state and are now ready to resume their tour.Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome The Strolling Scones!Yes that’s the Strolling Scones story, but in all reality their musical path began on New Years Eve of 2004/2005. What was supposed to be a one night affair evolved into a long and winding road of gigs, enthusiastic audiences, one well received and very original album with a new one due out summer 2008. The key to the band’s success has been in keeping high musical standards while not taking anything else too seriously. The above mythical story evolved concerning the band and has driven (or maybe haunted) them ever since. It’s a twisted and intricate tale but has somehow molded the Strolling Scones’ attitude and the way they approach their music in the here and now. Comments like “So fresh and nostalgic at the same time” get thrown around a lot about this band. The Scones have developed their sound by utilizing instruments that were part of the 60s sound (like the Rickenbacker 12 string, sitar guitar, and old Fender amps), and incorporating recording techniques pioneered back then including recording and mixing to analog tape. This just might be what a band magically projected from 1969 to the 21st century might sound like!Inventing fictitious personna and wearing authentic 60s era costumes, the Strolling Scones hit the stage and are ready to rock the world. The “fun meter” definitely stays in the red as the dance floor fills with uninhibited celebration. That’s the way the myth goes ... and actually how it is during a Strolling Scone’s performance.
