Darken My Grief is a Grey Metal (melodic doom-death-black metal) band from Sibiu/Hermannstadt, Transylvania, Romania.
With over 5 years of activity, the band can count itself among the most dynamic bands in Romania, with respect to style, line-up, shows and song composition. These years have brought to an increasing audience 3 demos (self-titled, Innerfall and Paingels) and dozens of extremely energetic gigs.
All in the band have been previously musically active, having a history which included at least one or two bands prior to Darken My Grief.
As these lines are being written, the guys are busy recording their first longplay, (so far, the most probable option for a name seems to be "Blightingales") within Negura Bunget's studio, at Negura Music.
Their shows include performances alongside bands like Misanthrope (Fra), Opera IX (Ita), Next Waste Dimension (Hol) or Rictus Grin (USA).
"Many people ask us what genre can our music be included in or what bands we resemble. Of course, we like to think of ourselves as being quite unique, but, since it is said that everything has been done before, we could agree to resemble bands like Dimmu Borgir, My Dying Bride or Amorphis. Eventually, we have decided to call that which we play grey metal, from many considerents, and as we keep being asked what this stands for, we shall briefly detail it. The way we see it, grey metal describes a style close to black, but somewhat more refined, also combined with many other genres, a „grey†melt of elements, varying from classical music to death metal. Grey metal is also related to the somewhat sombre atmosphere depicted both by our music and in its accompanying texts."
The songs posted here until the album is readied were all recorded in Duddu’s apartment, with the technical help of some of their friends from some fellow bands, so be warned about the quality of sound…
