About Me

Quit Stanley Recordings Press Release
From the producer and studio that brought you Fiona Apple's "Extraordinary Machine" and Graham Parker's "Your Country"...
Quit is the latest gem from John Would (former Warren Zevon guitarist) to come out of Stanley Recording Studios in Santa Monica/Venice, California. Quit is the second LP on which John and Courtney worked together. While catching a performance of the first record, "Long Way, the New York Times wrote: "With smoky vocals reminiscent of Tracy Chapman and Everything But the Girl's Tracy Thorn, Courtney holds court on stage with a presence far beyond her 20 years." She has been heard on KCRW in Santa Monica, XM Radio, and many NPR affiliates throughout the United States.
Since that review there have been several tours, a live record, and Quit. Most recently, Courtney has landed in Philadelphia along with Stanley Recordings' label operations.
Courtney Fairchild Bio
“I just want to understand how beautiful you make me.”
Courtney Fairchild’s latest release Quit came out of a weird place, which is, you know, where most great works of art come from. Quit’s writing and production and release were spread over 3 hectic years that saw new people, new faces, new opportunities. After it hit the streets Courtney wondered, simply, “What’s next?”
Courtney’s been doing this for damn near a decade. A decade of shows (Dallas, Los Angeles, Nashville, Philadelphia, Denver, Las Vegas, and more), records (Simple and Distorted, Long Way, Right Here, Quit, and “Nobody Home“ on acclaimed tribute album A Fair Forgery of Pink Floyd), spins at AAA and college radio, spins on national television (The WB‘s High School Reunion and MTV‘s Road Rules X-Treme). It’s been a wild decade. Wild because of everything that’s happened, wild because Courtney is 25.
Now, matured by heartbreak, steeled by a transcontinental move, Courtney is getting to her great work - performing for you, writing songs that reach into you, singing to you with the sweet voice of an ageless torch singer, and making a name for herself in your world.
Courtney is, finally, getting to see how beautiful you can make her.
