:: Please check back soon! ::
If you are a promoter or a venue and would like us to play in 2008, or if you are a band and would like us to support you at your gig, please contact us via: [email protected] We are really seeking gigs in London, but we are happy to travel anywhere given enough notice!
If we add or accept you it's because we like who you are, what you do, what you have to say, your music, your art, your performance or something about your profile that gets us thinking. If we don't... switch up your politics playa.
::Cryptonic Love Revival was formed by D and Aerial in late 1998, having met each other while studying at University in Canterbury, Kent, UK. Although we had different musical backgrounds we both maintained the same attitude and shared similar negative views on issues such as the state of the world, global corruption, religion, politics, the music industry, global wealth distribution, military conflict ...and so forth!::
::We began jamming and experimenting with computers in music, we also experimented in using 'unlikely' and 'bizarre' methods of capturing sounds, mainly inspired by the Acid-laced recordings of Beck's 'Mellow Gold' record. We wanted to develop our own sound rather than attempt to clone another band or stick to a distinct genre. Fueled by our strong negative views on many global issues, and through close collaboration with the psychedelic and darkling sub-cultures, we gradually became happier with our sound::
::Aerial was forced in 2000 to return to London while D continued with his degree in Canterbury. During the next few years we continued to liaise musically with each other despite the distance, and individually recorded ideas and songs toward CLR. D moved to London in 2003, which gave us the opportunity to jam out all of the ideas we had both collected over the years, and after many months and a lot of hard work, we had recorded around 12 complete songs. We then quickly realised that we needed to save up for some better quality recording equipment, as we wanted to self-produce our own music completely rather than to pay to use a Studio::
::We played our very first gig in October 2003 at 'The Cartoon' in West Croydon, South London as a Hallowe'en event. We were accompanied on stage by Dale, a mate of D's from Canterbury whom also shared a love of dark music, and he assisted with live sampling. We were the first band on the bill, however, as neither of the other two bands turned up, this gave us an opportunity to play a full set!::
::Since this gig we continued the writing process, and subsequently made around 30 copies of a Demo CD entitled 'You Must Not Conform'. We have since re-recorded and re-worked aspects of the four demo songs, using much higher quality equipment and software. The demo songs we chose were Need, Dirty Creep, The Crypt and Lush::
::In 2007 Skonam from Poland joined CLR, taking on the role of live samples and keyboard::
Cheers for reading!
