Beats and Pieces is a monthly hip-hop night organised by Noah Burton (Pinstripe) and Tom Wilson (megamouth) and Tom Boyle (Clone), courtesy of Huddersfield Music Scene and now Bar Mocha. The night has been running since around april or may 2005 and was originally held every 3rd monday of the month at Bar 120. Strarting from 2006 the night took on a new lease of life by moving to every 3rd saturday of the month, which has proven to be a popular move as each night held seems to be bigger and better than the last.
Following problems at Bar 120, The night, and the Huddersfield Music Scene team unfortunately had to stop their work at Bar 120 and move on to new pastures. As from the 28th April 2007, Beats and Pieces is now at Bar Mocha (ex fabrik/sessions/bar-non) and ready to get back on track!
The event has seen many different performers, local and slightly further afield, to name a few, Asaviour and DJ-IQ, Dr Syntax, Stig of the Dump, DJ Newborn, Groundwurq Entertainment, The Practical Headz, The Shedmen, Jimmy Crackstar, Joe Gutta and Swich (Doncaster), Systems D (Liverpool), Urban Unity, Wize, JND and EXP, RJ Mack, Ginx, Havoc, Gramma Marksman, Dont Talk To Strangers Strangers, Aaron Mwali and Elltee, Triganomabeats, Clone, Special Brew and Sezmoe, Ball-zee and Kronix and many many more.
The events main aim is promoting the Huddersfield Hip-Hop and Drum n Bass scene as Huddersfield is packed full of talent, but no venues really hold a regular night for that talent to be exposed.
