One of my earliest memories is sitting at the table with my grandmother and drawing. I've been creating ever since I can remember and nothing in life satisfies me more than being able to do that. I grew up in Romania where people had a much more humble and conservative approach to life. Coming to Canada was a full-force shock to me and I had to find ways to adapt. I started reading a lot of philosophy and psychology books in order to try and understand people, their interaction and social behaviors.
I began to write a lot when I was thirteen and that soon transformed into a need to create imagery that reflected my thoughts and observations. Ever since then, I have spent all of my free time learning, writing, teaching myself photography and various software and creating relentlessly.
The world today is suffering much more than ever before and people have learned to turn a blind eye to it all. A lot of my work is an attempt to get people asking questions, to give the viewer an opportunity to feel, think and react. We need to re-learn ourselves, become more assertive and claim our right to the freedom that used to run in our blood before the media took over. We have far too much sedation in our society and I believe it has always been the role of creative people to bring others back to reality as well as helping them escape it from time to time.
I believe art has the vast potential to change the world by provoking thought and emotion, shocking, stimulating, teaching and bringing joy to people. I live for my artwork and don't think I would be half the person I am today without it.
