Chantell Van Erbe' ~ Fantasized Realism In Print
Bio Born into a family of many artists, designers and poets on both sides, Chantell Van Erbe’ was encircled in an extremely artistic lifestyle and armed with a grand imagination. This advantage led her to create & exhibit at a very early age. Although it wasn’t until 1995 on a chance visit to an NYC gallery displaying colored pencil drawings from the Art Deco period, that she truly discovered her inspirational niche in the art field. Since then, she has been working professionally in colored pencils without any regrets.
Self-taught, her method is described as Fantasized Realism; essentially still- life themes with surrealistic undercurrents. Winner of numerous awards, Chantell’s paintings are in private collections and are continually on public display with many respected art organizations, museums and galleries such as The National Arts Club, The Butler Institute of American Art, The Salmagundi Museum, The Sharon Arts Center, The Broome St. Gallery, The Pen & Brush Galleries etc.
She is permanently listed as a biographee in Marquis Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who In American Art, Who’s Who of Emerging Leaders, Who’s Who in the World and Who’s Who of American Women. Her professional memberships include The Colored Pencil Society of America, CPSA DC-112, The Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Society and The Allied Artists of America.

My Interests

"Painting is...self-expansion. A beautifully maddening experience. Any person who has ever put brush to canvas would surely agree.

I am...mystified by the idea that a practice, so solitary and meditative is viewed, shared and appreciated by many.

My technique...can be best described as an unhurried, wavering process with lots of twists and turns. Despite careful preparation, my work never ever develops as planned.

My style...will change over time.

I have...a long way to go and little choice but to give in to my higher vision.

There is...no such thing as mastery.

Art is...my creed. A series of evolutions. Numerous characterizations and endless connotations. Tremendous power in three letters."
