The three guys in Binfield Broke it like their bar rock. And their themes are mildly political, more about broken dreams, and survival of the fittest. At their very first gig they chided the fact that rock and roll is not dangerous anymore, and the danger "needs to come back" to rock and roll. The sound has been compared to everything from old school punk to The obvious Hold Steady and Surf guitar influence. These three have been around for two years now, with ties to the lincoln skate scene, motorcyle mechanics and influenced by everyone on their top ten here.
Lately they have shared the stage with crush the clown, the favors, The Sleepover, Tsumi, Domestica, The terminals, Ideal Cleaners, zelazowa, the Pharmacy Spirits, Robot creep closer, the machete archive, Little Brazil,Officially terminated, All Capitals, Her Flyaway Manner, Secret Weapons from austin tx, the Fallen 77, the MF Saints, Cystic Fybrosis, Bloody Stump, and more. The sound changed quite a bit when jonny took over vocals and after struggling for a while, decided to ditch some of the rawer punk and go back to rock and roll roots. However, on the project to be recorded this summer, "disaster" in particular reflects a hybrid blend of the oldest true post punk and sounds like the angriest piece yet. Addiction, bad relationships and the like are familiar themes, but seem to be explored by BBI in different levels. They can be found in private practicing at the Eagle Ranch, punching the clock like a lot other nebraskans during the week, and all three living the comfortable, but strained-with-the times lives that fuel the lyrics. Binfield Broke it will Surely grow into something that is best with whiskey, a little like a galloping horse, but not afraid to rip into an old school rock and roll ballad.
