Where Jackson Pollock meets Bjork and Portishead

About Me

moZaiKa is an original blend of Alternative, Electronica and Classical music, sometimes experimental, always original. They seek to create a synthesis of music and visual art with both of these artforms complimenting each other for its creation and existence. Classically trained musicians, Me-Lee and Mare are from the Blue Mountains, Australia where they write and record in their bush setting studio . moZaiKa are best known for originality and have won awards for their unique style ("most original music" Mascon Youth Festival).
moZaiKa have recorded their first single following intensive pre-release internet research through sources such as myspace (thanks everyone!). The winning single was "Follow in Me" and it's FREE TO DOWNLOAD on the myspace music player. The "B side song is "They" - if you like it, you can purchase it through moZaiKa's site or through CD BABY .This will be a taster for moZaiKa's debut album due for release in 2007 which will be accompanied with a dvd of visual / digital works and a full multi-media production show entitled "Magellanic Voyages"
Me-Lee and Mare came together in 2005 having first worked together in a four piece band "Me-Lee's Mosaic" . Wanting to evolve towards a more electronica sound, they became a duo and their debut performance was at the prestigious Sydney venue The Basement in 2006. They are influenced by the likes of Bjork, Portishead, Massive Attack, Lamb and Tori Amos.In 2007
"Magellanic Voyages - a multimedia production by moZaiKa" will be created in conjunction with their album and dvd release. It's an ambitious project involving a full string ensemble, back line of drums, bass and drums, performance and circus artists , and video projections. The production's higher purpose is that it to hopes want to inspire our audiences to change their way of life and respect the world and humanity.

"SO COLD"; FILM AND DANCE INTERPRETATION BY KAREN CRESPO
Karen Crespo, film student, has created a beautiful artistic representation of one of moZaiKa's new songs "So Cold" using film and dance. So Cold is a song that mourns the existence fear and greed. This will be projected during The Clarendon Performance whilst we play the music.Me-Lee: vocals, piano, synths, loops programming, cello
Me-Lee is the main composer for moZaiKa. Bands such as Massive Attack, Lamb and Bjork are a common influence for their edgy electronica sounds combined with strong melodies all to create a textural mood which one can sink their ears into. Me-Lee also maintains her love for the piano classical composers particularly Chopin, Debussy and the 20th century australian composer Miriam Hyde. Combining these two very opposing forces of classical meeting electronica Me-Lee hopes to make moZaiKa an original sound which listeners can journey with and their aural senses being tantalised click here for more info on Me-Lee

Mare: acoustic violin, electric violin with effects, back ups, keyboard, guitar
Mare’s biggest love is violin, and her other big loves are art and horses. She has a unique and organic style that has some gypsy fire and passion, some bad-arse dirty edge, and a sense of freedom that comes from releasing the sound to gallop over the wild mountains. It is no accident that she is called “Mare”. In fact, she officially changed her surname to “Wildmare” because this aspect of the horse has been such an inspiration, and something she seeks to embody in her life. click here for more info on mAre
