To me, Eminem and Tupac are the greatest artists I have listened to. The way they tell their stories made me want to tell a story of my own that the world would find different and relatable. Im also influenced by my crew Str8 Strippin Records. The label consists of artist from all over the world. Str8 Trippin is a label who has artists from New York, Georgia, California, Ohio, and Texas. Working with them helped me into becoming a better artist.Music Background:
I used to compete in rap battles, and always enjoyed getting my hand raised after a victory. I was in a band, and Ive been taking classes to learn about music, and production.Discovery:
My father got me a job working security at a bowling alley. About three months into the job I ran into some guys who were freestyling in a circle. I decided to join that circle because I was so bored at work, and I did my thing. The crowd grew bigger, and everyone started enjoying themselves. I needed to get back to work, and about a week later I see one of the guys who was beat boxing for us that day. He came up to me and told me that he was a producer, and if I was interested in recording. He told me My name is Drastik, and if youre interested, Ill come back later so that you can see my studio. I called home so someone can get my books with all my songs. I recorded two tracks that day, and he signed me to his label called Sr8 Strippin Records.Accomplishments:
1) I took second place in an emcee battle competition held every January. This was very important to me because there were many people who felt I would lose to certain individuals. The first two battles were easy for me, but then I had to compete against a female who won a contest on a radio station. After winning that battle, I noticed I started having a crowd on my side. The next battle was against an emcee that is well respected in the city I live in. He is a very talented individual and so that was a great accomplishment for me Everyone told me that I didnt have a chance, but I won that battle and started getting respect as an Emcee Battler. Even though the battle was close, the crowd felt I had enough punches to become victorious. After the competition, I was approached many times in the streets and in restaurants about how good I had done. This pushed me to start writing music.2) My album called My Testament has to be my next great accomplishment. Switching from a battle rapper to a song writer was a difficult task. Once my album was done, I was proud that I was able to conquer that obstacle. I was able to tell my stories, and do in the style of Kid Lyrical.
