About Me

I would like to welcome all to my myspace page. I hope you enjoy the music. For as long as I can remember music has been a huge influence on my life, But I didn't start writing rhymes until I was 16 years old. I was often shy when rapping in front of people, I never felt comfortable in the beginning, but several years later, opportunity knocked, or u can say fate, either way I got my first chance when I was serving time in the U.S. Army in El Paso, Tx. There I would link up with a local record label, and began to craft my skills. I've done shows and contest, and made the stage my second home. It felt great, and I realize that this is honestly and humbly what I needed to do for the rest of my life. I took time off, when I had my son, and soon after my mother past, but they are my motivation. My mom believed in me, and now I think of her when the road seems to get too bumpy. So I'm back now, working hard, and doing it on my own, and on my on my own terms. I'm representing for the ladies, for the hood, for my family and for my friends who hold me down, and keep me grounded. And I just wanna thank everybody for coming by the page, showing me love, leaving the comments and the messages. I really appreciate the support...Much love and respect to those who show me love and respect... This is Dedicated to My Mom, Grandmother, and My Aunt....Thank ya'll for all your love and may god bless your souls. Rest In Peace

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: YonK B.Z is a solo artist
Influences: All types of genres and musicians has influenced me. Like many black children growing up, my household always had the Oldies playing, becoming sort of my theme music for whatever I was feeling at the time. Great hits by Marvin Gaye, Al Green, Otis Redding, and The Commodores, was introduced to me by my mother at a young age. Doo Woop was presented to me by my Grandmother, artist like Frankie Lymon, and Little Anthony. Also introduced by my Grandmother was Country music, "growing up I had no choice but to watch the Grand Ole Opry." But Hip hop, which I heard blaring from my brother's room, became my new love. "My brother would play Eric B. and Rahkim from day 'til night. Hip Hop described my life, it was the way that I walked, talked, the way I dressed, it represented my whole attitude and my way of life." There is only a handful of female rappers who I believe really represented the Hip hop culture with class, and gave female rappers like myself a chance, and they are: Queen Latifah, MC Lyte, and Eve. There is some forgotten or unrecognized like: Newsense ( from Psycho Drama), and Mia X. " I hope someday female rappers will be recognized for their verbal skills, and what they really have to say to the world, instead of the usual Prada/Gucci music that's being done now. Don't get me wrong I like some of it, but is that all you have to talk about?" Shout Outs to Str8 Trippin Records, they were a big influence for me on my journey, big time. My nephew Ritch AKA Da Gift, I watched him grow up into the man he is today, and don't play, my boy's got skills check 'em out. The loves of my life Cory aka CSICC, thru all the ups and downs we are still here, and my son Acario, my newest and greatest influence. I love you Both...And my whole fam, from my mom and brother, to all my little cousins, who keep me up to date with who's hot and what's what, I love all ya'll...Stay Grindin', Cuz I Will.
Sounds Like: I am original. There is only 1 Yonk B.Z., So I would say I sound like no other.
