Artkitects...
Unofficially formed in the mid 1990's, a group of purists took root in the Triangle. Over the next ten years, and through various partnerships and alliances, a common link remained between the three principal Artkitects; Mic El, Jersey Devil, and DJ Resident. At the official formation, the addition of another member Damar, (Jerse's younger brother) solidified the drive, talent and foundation of the Artkitects. Taking the obvious reference from those who design and formulate, via structure, principles, and techniques, they took a decade of friendship and piecemeal music endeavors and cleared an area on which to build amongst a deteriorating landscape of lackluster music.
Mic El, Jerse, Damar, and Resident comprise an ever-evolving spectrum of talents ranging in the complementary lyrical styles of Mic El and Jersey, the R&B styled melodic textures of Damar and a range of production styles courtesy Mic El, Damar and DJ Resident. The fundamental and elder beat miser, DJ Resident, lends the more boom-bap style, together with the hip-hop necessities of scratches and chopped, twisted, reconstructed samples. The up and coming styles of Mic El and Damar add more to the design toolbox that gives the Artkitects their unique sound from which to design and construct a soul's music. Committed to the music, inspired by the great designs of the past, and destined to bring forth change and evolution in what is comically called a "game," the Artkitects are drafting their blueprints of the future.
