The powerful rock and roots sound of "Sheyana" has been entertaining live audiences in Tasmania, Australia since 2002.'Firehorse' is their independent CD release which was recorded in 2002.The 'Firehorse' album captures the essence of this brilliant new singer-songwriter showcasing her powerful vocals and driving rhythms.Together they create a rock and soul acoustic experience of woven words with heart, and catchy riffs with groove, inspiring audiences to move. The inspiration for their music comes from life experiences and the influence of living in a lush corner of the world, on the North West Coast of Tasmania."Sheyana" has made it to the finals of the 'ABC's' Fresh Air Competition with their new song 'Two Birds'. Fresh Air is an ABC Radio Regional Production Fund initiative, offering unsigned musicians living in regional Australia, who write and perform original adult contempary music, the chance to be heard on ABC Radio across Australia and exposure to a world audience on ABC online. "Sheyana" has performed around Australia at numerous events, festivals and concerts such as, 'Gone South 2003', support act for 'Ian Moss 2002', 'Renae Geyer 2004', & 'Diesel 2007'. The debut album 'Firehorse' has had airplay on local 'AM' & 'FM' radio stations, as well as 'ABC' local & National. Having completed a number of recordings on a local and national level, including 'Bloomers': 'Australian Women Singer/Songwriters Compilation CD', & 'Apple Slice Compilation CD of Tasmanian Original Artists', "Shey" was comissioned to workshop, write and perform several songs for community arts project, 'Hidden Caves, Common Ground', funded by 'The Australia Council'.Born in London and of Sri Lankan/Tasmanian heritage, "Shey" came to Tasmania at the age of 8, surrounded by a musical family who sparked her interest in rhythms and harmonies. At the age of 14 she began experimenting with her own style of music. A fusion of her cultural heritage and the exciting sounds of her childhood in London. She later met and collaborated with the exceptional talents of guitarist, "Scott Mainwaring"(former Pale Riders), bassist, "Matt Groom"(The Janets) & drummer, "Mick Eaves"(The Janets). They now join forces to become "Sheyana".
