About Me

Myspace Layouts

Loud Music is an event management and promotion business and our mission is to promote and support original music in Tasmania. We run over 200 original music gigs each year in Hobart and regional Tasmania at a diverse range of venues including The Republic Bar, The Lark Distillery, The Mayf, The Backspace Theatre, The Venue, The Royal Oak, The Stage Door and many more. We work with a variety of genres including acoustic, folk, punk, classical, world, comedy, blues, pop and so on... basically if it makes a good night out, we’re into it!

Loud Music is an altruistic business with a clear ethos for supporting the grass roots music industry and independent, emerging artists. The Loud philosophy is to promote, assist and mentor new and emerging original artists as well as established musicians by providing them with increased opportunities to be heard by a diverse and receptive audience. We organise, promote and coordinate all aspects of the gigs including advertising, liasing with venues and media and providing sound requirements. We also use our networks, resources and experience in the music industry to assist the artists we work with to achieve their musical ambitions when it comes to recording, touring, publicity, legal issues and other aspects of developing their craft.

We also believe in supporting the local and international communities that bring us as musicians alive and believe sincerely in using music to help others. Since forming in 2005 Loud Music have raised over $10,000 for causes close to our hearts, including the Red Cross (Tsunami and Java Quake appeals), Beyond Blue Depression Initiative, Cerebral Palsy Tasmania, The Gunns 20 Group and Jamm 4 Genes (for the Children’s Medical Research Institute).

We have a growing network of interstate artists who we bring to Tasmania to tour and perform alongside local artists, giving all the opportunity to gain increased exposure and networks. We are working at the establishment of events in several other states to provide increased opportunities for Tasmanian artists to viably tour mainland Australia and work alongside musicians nationally.

Loud has worked with several major Tasmanian festivals such as The Mountain Festival, The Antarctic Midwinter Festival and The Amplified Music Festival. We have also run original song contests and band competitions for organisations such as Is Theatre, The Mountain Festival, The Antarctic Festival and Global Battle of the Bands, providing increased opportunities for Tasmanian songwriters and bands to get their music out there. Loud Music also owns and operates Loud Studios, a mountain-side recording studio just outside of Hobart that is available for use by our artists, as well as Red Parka Designs which, among other things, designs Loud gig posters.

Loud believes in a cooperative, supportive and sustainable music industry and works closely with many organisations that share this goal. These include The Social Union and Important Records, Si Cola Theatre Project, Is Theatre, The Benjafield Collective, Live Ferret Productions and Downball Records, and of course the fabulous people at The Lark and The Mayf who have believed in us and the artists we work with from the beginning! These are just a few of the wonderful people we work with, but to everyone out there, especially our fantastic team of sound engineers, the brilliant performers who play at our shows and all the supporters who attend our events, thank you for sharing our dream of live, original music - we appreciate your support!

Loud Music are always keen to meet new people interested in getting involved, other people around the world doing similar things, or any musician who would like to come to Tasmania to share your music with us.
