ALBANY'S OWN NEW MUSIC PRO

Being from a small city called Albany, Ga. it’s hard to rise above and make a name for yourself. But Yontai is one of the few that’s done just that. Since April 1983 Yontai has endured many struggles. At the age of 8 he was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. “At the time I didn’t really stress about it. I was too busy worrying about videogames” (laughing). Since then hospital stays became more of a common situation for him, but none of this stopped his love for music. “I remember trying to spend the weekend with my cousin because he owned Unfinished Business by EPMD.” Growing up in a single parent home with 3 siblings Yontai taught himself how to be independent. “My father is my older brother! If he wasn’t around I think I wouldn’t be here today”. Due to Cystic Fibrosis complications on his 14th birthday Yontai became seriously ill and were later diagnosed with Diabetes. “The doctors were shocked because I was discussing music instead of insulin shots.” In the same month he was also introduced to Fruity Loops. “I was amazed! I constantly stayed on the computer.” From producing for local friends and rappers Yontai began crafting his sound. Since then he hasn’t skipped a beat. Now working with DA KAPO, LUCKY P, KING SKOOTA, AZACK, DEM GURLZ, JACK D and many more as his sound continues to spread across south Ga. He even has Albany legend OLE-E asking for help. “As soon as I played the first track for him he looked at me and said You are gonna be around for a long time………Now let’s get to work” (laughing). On the flipside of things, on Thanksgiving Day in 03’ Yontai suffered a terrible lost of his younger sister who passed from Cystic Fibrosis. “When that happened I wanted to give everything up,” but he didn’t. Now with his own production company New Music Group he continues to press on. “06’-07’ is NEW MUSIC time, I PROMISE. Oh did I mention my beats are good?”(Laughing again)G.R.I.N.D.
