Started by Drakkar Tyrannis of MD based band Altar Of The Apocalypse in 2006, the premise was to unify the local extreme bands, making it easier for such bands to get more promotion,more options for shows,and to exchange information and resources needed by such bands to thrive.Other genres of music in Maryland have such resources already, but the extreme metal scene was lacking in unity, thus H.E. was created as a solution to the problem.Who are the members of Hell's Elite?
The official members of Hell's Elite are listed on this site in the members column. Hell's Elite is a label given only to certain bands who meet all of the needed criteria:
-Must be extreme metal
-Must be willing to help out the scene and other metal bands (both official and non-official Hell's Elite members).
-Must have a dedication to metal in general and to the MD scene.Such rules were needed to ensure that the best interest of the extreme scene would always be in mind. The members of Hell's Elite have met these standards and add something to the Hell's Elite name in their indivual ways. Bands, scene veterans and newcomers alike, have been chosen to provide a mix of older bands who have more experience as maryland metal musicians, and younger bands who can keep both new and old school ideals alive. A band with the label of "Official Hell's Elite member" can be thought of as the most dedicated, serious, and talented extreme metal acts in MD and nothing less.
