About Us:
At 27, Jason Skinner is already a veteran bluegrass musician. Born in Edenton NC, he started playing guitar at the age of 12. But his true passion came a year later when he started playing the banjo. Jason was immediately drawn to the unique banjo style of Don Reno and has become one of the best Reno style pickers today. He sings lead and sometimes tenor when needed. As the leader and teacher in the band, Jason wears many hats but his favorite is being a father.
Born in Honolulu HI, Jennifer Skinner was new to bluegrass music before she met Jason. She has a natural talent for music. Jason taught her to play rhythm guitar and within a year she could follow most any song. Jennifer is also working on singing. She is the glue that holds the group together. Jennifer is not only beautiful but, she takes care of the whole family on and off the stage.
Zayn Skinner is one of the main attractions in the Skinner Family Band. At 10 years old, he can hold his own in any jam session. He started playing mandolin when he was 5 and has progressed very quickly. Usually grinning when he is picking, you can tell Zayn loves to pick for the audience. He also wants to start singing in the near future. Zayn's rhythm and picking are very impressive even for someone three times his age.
Alyssa Skinner is the youngest of the group. She is 7 years old and began playing the Dobro about a year ago. She practices every day determined to get better. She has several arrangements that would rival any seasoned dobro picker. Alyssa is destined to be a fantastic musician. You will be amazed at what this little girl can do. She has it all-smarts, talent, and cuteness!
